Title: O2ptimask kit by LifeGas--Which One Should I Order
Post by davidbudsd on Jun 8th, 2010 at 5:31pm
Hello Everyone,

I am right in the middle of a nasty cycle and am having oxygen delivered today.  I want to order the O2ptimask kit, but I'm unsure which one to order.  The only thing that I can tell that is different is the single patient mask or possible that this mask is also smaller than the regular mask with the disposable masks.  The single patient use mask is out of stock right now and I would really like to get this ordered as quickly as possible--can someone tell me if I should be ok in ordering the regular O2ptimask kit.
The mask size should fit a regular sized male (I'm 6 feet 200lbs).

I appreciate all of the assistance.

David

Buy it at the ch.com link to the left. I bought the $25 model, and it works just fine (but I use the mouthpiece, not the mask, so it would have been pointless for me to buy the more expensive mask part).

The regular mask is fine, probably better. I've been using 2 of these so called disposable's for the last 2 cycles. They will last a lot longer than the description implies.

I also have one of the single patient masks and prefer the "disposable". You won't be sorry you get this mask, be sure it's the 3 liter bag, I think thats all they have on CH.com.

The quality and effectivness is just amazing, makes a regular mask seem ancient.

Thanks for the information.  I am going to order the mask right now.  Yeah, the oxygen was just delivered and the non-rebreathing mask this is supplied is for the birds.  I appreciate the info.

You did not mention what flow rate your system will deliver. Most of us find a flow rate of 15-25 liters per minute is optimum. You might need a prescription for that, and an E tank will empty right quick, so have a stockpile. There are other, better valves available (like a demand flow valve) so if the O2 works but it's taking more than you thought, you might look into it. Blessings!

I have a prescription for 15lpm and the valve that goes up to that level at present.  This seems efficient enough right now, but might consider purchasing a valve that allows more air.  I have used the mask 2 times already since receiving on Saturday morning.  I put the mask together correctly, but not sure I'm using it the right way.  Should I allow the air to build up in the bag and then bring it into my lungs and then breathe out through my nose and then take more air in once the bag fills up again?  I have seen on here where everyone recommends hyperventalating, but if I do that with this mask, the oxygen hasn't had enough time to build fully up into the bag.  Anyone's thoughts would be welcome.
Thank you,
David in San Diego
