Title: Avoided CH's : I am the happiest person right now
Post by Satbir on May 20th, 2010 at 6:18am
Yes that's what I have been saying to myself during last 2 attacks and pain stopped within few minutes of starting. Whenever I start feeling that CH is about to come into full force, I start saying to myself "I am the happiest person right now" and do it continuously till the pain vanishes. Although I start to loose my faith due to pain but I keep doing it and magically pain vanishes.

I have been reading a lot on power of subconsciousness, positive thinking lately and this experience has only strengthened my belief. It also helped me in other areas of life.

The reason I feel it is working is that earlier I used to get frightened as soon as pain used to start and started to think negatively about my future due to CH. Those negative thoughts have stopped due to this positive affirmation and I get into a positive state of mind. I am enjoying it and hope it helps me in future too. Anyone have similar experience, please let us know and give it a try. Might help you if done with complete faith and persistence.

This is interesting because I always use to do this as well.  I would say to myself, that the pain is about to go away and I can do something fun after the hit.  I usually would just smile because I was too exhausted to do anything.  Thinking positive doesn't take the pain away, but it kept my thinking sain.
If you are strong enough to think this way, more power to you.  Interesting thread.

I have been using the classic Ho'oponopono prayer, developed by a psychologist in Hawaii, to talk to my head:
I LOVE YOU
I AM SORRY
PLEASE FORGIVE ME
THANK YOU
or
I AM SORRY
PLEASE FORGIVE ME
I LOVE YOU
THANK YOU

Whatever it does, it sure seems to have a lot of meaning and applies to much in my world.
LOVE from Daniel R  Peterson

I play a game where I go to the mirror and attempt to appear completely normal and complete a sentence or two.  This is very challenging to do, and I guess due to my unusual sense of humor, usually makes me laugh between moans.

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and I laughed

I looked in the mirror and I was shocked.  I'm not eighteen anymore.

I think its quite possible your relaxation and positive thinking is stopping you from getting a tension headache on top of, or before and after a CH. I've lived with the combo for years and years unknowingly, albeit.

Think of it this way. Hypothetically lets replace CH's/the beast with me, for example. Now at certain times, or random times, a few times a day I walk up to you and hit you in the head, and causing you great pain. Lets also imagine I drive a noisy vehicle, so you can hear me coming blocks away.

Now imagine how you'd feel, and just as importantly, how your body would respond, to hearing the faintest "noisy vehicle"? Notice your shoulders next to your ears? Your breathing shallow, or stopped at times? Jaw stiff?

Keep that stress level up for a while and you'll get a tension headache. I know some of my level 8's,9's & 10's were tension headaches + a CH. Throw in a stress headache and I'll dance & cry the night away.  :P

I think anyone with CH's should use some method of relaxation and stress control. How could you not be tense, anxious, and stressed out when you get hit with a pipe to the head, out of the blue (or on que), daily?

I know I'm at my wits end, and my patience are paper thin when I'm in the worst of it. Cheering myself on, and uttering to myself how happy I am right now, is essential.

Keep it up, and you might want to look in to messages, meditation, and even Buddhism and its many forms of teachings. Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle (the power of Now). Both have changed my life, and importantly my life with CH.

.......................I am the happiest person right now..............................................................Glad that is working for you. Would suggest you research abortives such as oxygen and imitrex as options for the days when that doesn't roll off the subconscious as well.
