Hi all you CH's Never been here before but have had cluster headaches since i was 13 years old and I'm 52 now. It was 5 years to the day since the last bout of #%#@*&  headaches. (Sorry) But here I am again in the middle of another 3 a day shot and or sniffing bout of headaches. Just had to leave work with a left side face grinder.  Trying to take some build up of topomax this time to see if it will help this time. Time will tell. This is only the 2nd week into this round so I guess I'll see how bad they get this time?  Last time I had the insurance company cut me off of meds for a week till I found a headache specialist 120 miles away that said he would make sure that would not happen again. He was a life saver.  So I went to him right away this time and we will see what the topomax dose. Got plenty of shoot em up drugs as long as I can afford them. Going to try a chiropractor tommorrow to see if he can loosen my neck up because it seems like that is causing some of the problems. Ok I've been rambelling on. But hopefully this 4 to 5 week CH sessioin is not as bad as last time I had them Because last time was really really REALLY Bad!!!!!!!!!!!! It's already alot different way things are happening this time than last time.   

Bag the bone cracker and get oxygen.

Glad to hear that you got that headache specialist, and he prescribed stuff that worked last time.

I hope you'll hang around here and absorb lots of info, some of it critical, much of which you won't get from any doctor.

For instance, the clear advantage (for many of us) of hi flow non rebreather O2 over the way MDs still routinely prescribe it. The oxygen info link on the left of this page is worth the price of admission alone.  8-)

Your shoot em up drug is imitrex I presume? Concerned about being able to afford them? Welcome to the board. The oxygen suggestion will start to sound like a recording! Been a life saver for many. Read the oxygen info link on the left. I can abort an attack in less then 10 minutes using oxygen. Has all but eliminated my trex useage.

I just turned 50 and ended an over 2 year remission. Those long breaks are sweeet but damn it's a pisser when he raises his ugly head. One of the newer discoveries around here has been energy drinks. I use sugar free red bull but any containing the combo of caffeine and taurine will work. Chug one down at the first sign of an attack. It'll reduce or abort an attack for many.
