Title: I cured my cluster headaches!!!
Post by xochitl on May 7th, 2010 at 4:21am
I began having migraines at age 13 which then progressed to CH in adulthood. I remember my first CH lasting for what seemed like an eternity, I was mid-air when it happened and they actually did an emergency landing because they thought I was having a stroke due to the right side of my face drooping.

That was years ago. I'm happy to say that I have not had one CH, migraine or even a headache in almost 2 years.

I used to get them 3-4 times a week no matter what and I am sure you all know the cocktails of pills and shots you go through to get rid of them. Well, I'm off medication, I'm done with doctors, I'm free of pain.

I went to go see a chiropractor for my back on an un-related issue in northern CA and what I found was way more than back relief, I no longer have CH!!! I had them at least 3 times a week continuously for yeeeeaaaars and now I have nothing!

I recommend that ANYONE with migraines or CH see a chiropractor. He did for me what no Western doc was able to do with their fancy MRIs and pills. A simple x-ray revealed   a tiny, little kink in my neck. Pop and some traction took care of it and within a few weeks I was CH free.

As it turns out, doctors x-rayed me as well but they are looking for entirely different things than what chiropractors seek. They kept missing what was right in front of them.

And chiropractors are so much cheaper too! It took me a good 4 chiros before I found Dr. Wagnon but he got rid of them and no amount of gratitude can ever explain how much that CHANGED MY LIFE!

I am no longer a slave to my CH. If ANYONE suffers from these, TRY A CHIROPRACTOR and have them focus on your headaches. It cant hurt any more than the CH does and it cant cost anymore than is already being taken away from you by your CH.

I cant scream it enough! GO TO A CHIROPRACTOR FOR YOUR CH!!! Take this from a 13 year CH sufferer. THEY'RE GONE!   ;D

I'm glad the chiro worked for you.  It certainly didn't for me.  Any chiro will tell you it helps, but there even less knowledgeable than some of these dingbat doctors.

I just don't want to burst your bubble, but if you really have CH and was diagnosed correctly by a neurologist or pain management specialists you need to realize that you're probably in a long remission.  Some have had remission up to 15 years and guess what, they WEREN'T cured.  They came back, so enjoy your remission time.  A pain free day is a good day.

Just hear me out, "there is no cure for CH".

Peace,
Chad

Cervicogenic headaches, not clusters.

thanks xochitl - I have long suspected my clusters having something to do with my neck and back.  Just a matter of finding a chiro that knows what they're doing.  I think in the long run, the cluster cure may lie in the spinal/neck region.  Glad you've found releif!  \m/

...how about it lies in the hypothalamus for starters.

Posting the same thing in multiple forums is unnecessary.  Everyone will see it if you post in one.

Tatty........hundreds of true CH sufferers have gone to a chiropractor for relief. The only relief they have received is from some of the secondary effects of fighting CH, the tight shoulders and back etc.

It's a pleasant thought to think that after 31 years of battling these, someone popping my neck and putting me in traction for 5 minutes would "cure" me. It's also a pleasant thought to think I'll win the lottery today. Both have about the same statistical odds of coming true.

Yes, absolutely no need to post this in more than one place.   ::) ::)

First of all THERE IS NO CURE FOR CH.

Second we have a very prominent sufferer here by the name of Doug Wright who is a Chiropractor and he says that any practictioner that says that chiro. can help, ease or in ANY way stop CH is a quack. PERIOD!!!   It may be helpful for a lot of other ailments, but CH isn't one of them.

My clusters were cured when I sent in $14,824.30 to some guy in Missouri.  PM me if you want the address to send the cash to.  No promises are made, but sending the cash can't hurt, can it?

I assume that an even $15K would not have worked but if someone wants to try an even $15K, PM me..... I'll give you the address.

Whoa!!!  You got ripped off!  The Louisiana guy only charges $13,500 for the same treatment!

PM me if you want the address to send the cash to.  ;D

I believe that many folks posting about their "cure" truly believe they have something valuable to share with the CH community.

As pointed out some may have simply gone into a period of remission and have a future wakeup call coming.  Their doctor should have the knowledge, and take time to inform them that relief is only temporary, that they are not "cured" if they are a true CH sufferer.

Others may believe they’ve found a way to overcome this disorder and never suffer again.  Unfortunately, this is an indication of a difficulty many of us has experienced – getting a valid diagnosis in the first place.  There’s little value in improper treatments and suffering needlessly because a doctor provided a patient with a diagnosis that didn’t fit... and patient simply accepted the diagnosis.

Take responsibility for doing the homework.  It's easy to accept the first diagnosis thrown your way - but difficult to keep looking until you are certain you have the right answer.

Glad to hear you’ve been “cured”, my prayer for you is that you are "cured"  and that the doctor that diagnosed you with CH was simply wrong.

Best Wishes
burnt-toast
(Tom)

I believe most of the folks posting about their cure are all the same single troll who registers under different names and posts his/her "cure" to get the board worked up.

Glad it worked for you too! But all it did was make mine 10 times worse. I thought I had cured my headaches a dozen times only to become to realize that they just went away only to return again and again.
Occipital nerve block was the only cure for me and has kept me going for over 12 years now. Took me 15 years to finally be diagnosed by my family doctor (who I hadn't been to in years because I had moved off and was going to college) and another year to finally get relief from a doctor who deals with CH type problems and has had great results from this treatment.
Sure hope and pray that you are cured but one can never be 100% sure.
Alcohol, nicotine and stress were my main triggers, after no more drinking and smoking they were less intense and didn't seem to last as long. As for stress that is something we all have to deal with on an individual basis. Good luck and God Bless,  Curtice

Do ya think?  The author of this thread has only made 2 posts and has not returned to back up his "cure".  Stirring the pot I guess.

I fully agree! There is no cure!!! I got my doc off the Nat'l Headache Foundation site. He holds five medical degrees, one of which is chiropractic medicine. So, I try the chiropractic approach every year. I recently went two years HA free as well. While I counted my blessings for being PF, in no way shape or form did I think I was CURED. Seriously, enjoy your PF time but don't just assume you are cured. But I hope you do stay in REMISSION.

Without it your body would no longer have any control over, amongst other things, body temperature, hunger, thirst, fatigue, and circadian cycles.

Ah, who needs that sh!t anyhow?

Off topic, I'm afraid.  (If this thread can be said to have a topic anymore.   ;)  )

Just finished reading the Wiki about the hypothalamus.  I found the short bit about the hypothalamus regulating olfactory stimuli interesting.  Wonder if a busted hypothalamus has anything to do with the fact that "everything stinks" when I'm in cycle.  (Not just metaphorically, either.)   :P

A little late jumping in on this but I just got back from a chiro who claims that she can cure CH by adjusting a little bone in the cervical area called the Atlas bone. I remain truly sceptical as I have tried Chrio before with no help. I am just out of a nice 18 month remission and once again I am willing to try almost anything (other than removing the Hypothalamus) so we will see if it at least helps break the cycle. If not, time to try the RC seeds I have been reading about this week, any advise or success stories on them?

You'll have a much better chance of having a positive outcome with seeds  than with a chiro.   Order the seeds! They have helped many!

Go to clusterbusters.com. Everything you need is right there.

You can prepare right now - you'll need to detox from your current CH meds for a minimum of 5 days.

I've noticed what I can best describe as a chemical odor when I'm having a rough time with the CHs. I know it's just me and not some external odor as my wife doesn't smell it. She has a great sense of smell, I swear she could even smell beer on my breath over the telephone.
