Title: Has anyone tried HCG to prevent or stop a cycle? Post by Bjk on Apr 25th, 2010 at 1:34pm
I have had clusters for about 16 years now. I get them about every 18 months to 2 years. I have seen a neurologist the entire time, like most of you I have tried many preventatives and abortives. There are a few that "help" but nothing that really prevents or manages the headaches. A couple of years ago I got pregnant during a cluster cycle. About the time I realized I was pregnant my clusters started to go away. I have heard many times that women do not get cluster headaches while pregnant. That got me thinking about HCG. I am wondering if doing a cycle of HCG could possibly prevent my next cycle. My next cycle is just around the corner. I have shadows and all of the tell-tell signs that I have learned to recognize over the years. Does anyone have any experience with trying HCG? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

HCG? Is that a hormone secreted during pregnancy?

I tried it last year.....
I had done a 6 week diet cycle of hCG several months before my cycle began and lost the weight I wanted to lose.......Then...Last June the beast showed up sadly as expected. I had an idea that maybe if I could do another round it might help as well as hCG effects the hypothalmous....so about 4-5 weeks or so into my cycle I started the hCG diet....( my cycles are usually approx 12 weeks long)...The Clusters tapered off and I was only getting hit once in awhile....maybe only one every other day.....I was getting pretty excited.....then they started to come back even stronger than ever and lasted a whole extra month ( 16 weeks...Yikes! )....I enjoyed the pain free time but whether or not it ended up lengthening my cycle I don't know....You know how unpredictable the beast is.....So........That is my story....You might try it... Blessings and wishing pain free days and nights for all ! Karen |
