Title: Out of cycle, but want to talk shadows...
Post by Melissa on Mar 17th, 2010 at 12:19pm
Hey all,

I'm not anticipating my cycle until Sept., but do get bad shadowing before a storm system.  The weather here is going to go from 60 degree days down to the 30's with snow as of Fri.  Yesterday I ended up shadowing good in the evening and then this morning, the area above my left eyebrow is EXTREMELY sensitive to the touch.  It almost feels like I was hit with a baseball bat and am feeling the after effect or something.

My question, any other episodic have experience with this?  This is only the 2nd year it's been happening to me.  Before that, storms would come and go and I'd be alright.  This year will make it 20 years that I've had CH's.  Still can't believe it's been that long!

Take care,
mel

Wassup sistah!?!

I'm entering my 6yr chronic but I have to admit if the criteria went back to the old standards I would be episodic with 11 cycles lol...anyway...

Here's my point, I have high and low cycles but the highs have been way fewer than the lows which is great but during the lows which I rarely get hit HARD i will shadow HARD during drastic changes in weather.

I think a lot of us are prone to the changes in barometric pressure.

I really don't remember what it was like to be episodic other than the 8 months of freedom from pain  a year.

Take an advil :P

Don't think I've ever had anything like that, switch is either on or off for me...(Hate to brag but day 6 without lithium and it appears mine are now OFF)......so just shut your stupid cycle off, I find life is much less complicated when they're off!

Hi Melly!!!

I shadow all the time between cycles.  Strange thing for me though, is that my shadows and cycles get worse when the weather goes from crappy to nice.   My Spring cycle will be earlier if the weather gets pretty early.  Go figure...

Hey Joe!  Great news!!!    May this have been your last  cycle ever!

Hugs to both of you,

Jeannie

Ya little shit! :P ;D

Joe- sure, just let me go downstairs and flip the breaker. ::) ;)

Jeannie- it rots, doesn't it?  Thing is, I had been doing so good with no anxiety attacks, and then last night had me in a tailspin.

Thx guys, I guess this is just one of those things that can happen (and will probably continue till I "hopefully" grow out of them), so I better get used to it.  >:(

Once you hit puberty, they should stop.

Of COURSE!  That's why yours haven't been around since you were 83.

Awesome! 8-)

Hey Mel,

I get them too.  Never really realized that they were related to storms till I heard others say the same thing.  Then I started looking for patterns.

Sure enough, when that low pressure starts to move in my head will act up a bit.  Usually just during the pressure drop.  Once the pressure stabilizes the shadows will begin to subside.

I just keep my O2 handy and kill em quickly.  If they're real persistent I'll have an extra cup o joe or an energy drink.  I've even been known to pop an occasional Excedrine Migraine.

Don't let em get ya down.  As soon as the storm passes they lighten up again.

Hey Mel,
I have a barometer brain too :) Especially when the temperature has mood swings like you describe from 60 degrees to 30 or the other way around.

the last time it rapidly warmed up and cooled off was during a big wind storm a few weeks ago and I felt sore above me eyebrow too ...and I felt like my head was being squished.

Hey people,

If you get a headache from a falling barometer, get a modern digital one, like this:

START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

It should do less damage than the large old-fashioned type, mounted on a heavy wooden base.

Like the way that new one reads 72 and 20%. Mine seems stuck at 45 and 50% quess I need a new one Alien Guy but wheres the barometer readout..

My head is generally more accurate on the pressure systems as well Mel.

I'm episodic also Mel, every two years as soon as the weather changes from winter to spring it starts. I wouldn't be suprised at all that the pressure associated with a storm could trigger shadows.

Hopefully you catch a break in September...

I would say I get shadowy between cycles but I've only had one cycle which ended mid December and I've been shadowy 2-3 times a day ever since I'm not shore about the air pressure thing cos i don't take too much notice of my barometer, but I will from now on.

I always did get a long lasting oppressive head ache with high pressure systems before I started suffering from CH so it wouldn't surprise me if it did affect my shadows & CH as well.

Red bull works well for shadows , for me at least

Well, fortunately the system has decided to stay to the south of us and I haven't shadowed since Thursday.  Yay!

Looks like there will be rain on Tuesday though, so we'll see what happens.

I hate being a weather station. >:(
