Title: What is "Peaking"
Post by Sonia-MA on Feb 14th, 2010 at 10:28am
Hello again,
As I navigate through the site and read through posts, I've read numerous people refer to the 'peak' or 'peaking'.

Is this referring to the peak of the attack or the cycle?  And I am assuming that this is the time when either would be at its worst.

Thanks!

It can refer to both. Depends on the context.

It's what I get in trouble for when I sneak into the bathroom when Wifey is on the shower!!! ;D (sorry I'm done now!)

Like Brew said, it's used both ways, refers to when the individual attack maxes out on the KIP scale, and to the high point of your cycle when you're getting max number of attacks.

Thanks to you both for your replies.  I'm learning a lot on here!

Ha Ha Joe...I needed a laugh after this morning's terrorist attack on my head!

Would you please also explain 'shadows'?  Is this when the sensation of the beginning of an attack is lingering?

I often refer to the aftermath of an attack a 'hangover'.

I get the headache hangover. Before I had any effective treatments if I had to ride out a 90 minutes hit the "headache" hangover would last a full day or two. That feeling someone beat you on the head with a 2X4.

Shadows....different people describe them differently. I describe shadows as the droopy eye, runny nose, the headache is almost there, you can feel the start of the claws, but it never takes off.

Others refer to lower hits as shadows. The ones that can last a day or two at the low level pain.

The 2X4 is exactly my feeling and I didn't even get to enjoy any beverages to deserve this hangover.

Looking forward to talking to my Neuro on Tuesday about trying the oxygen treatment.

I hate to be the pushy type................but really push for the oxygen. It's been so incredibly effective for so many people. Do read the oxygen info link on the left and go armed with the knowledge of what you need. Crossing my fingers for you.
