Title: Coincidence or "It's Over" ...
Post by LucyBee210 on Oct 16th, 2009 at 11:35am
My new and wonderful PCP ordered an MRI and the results showed "Chronic Sinus Infection" and "Prominent Ventricles, etc". I have been referred to a neurologist - appt. pending.  In the meantime my PCP called in Claritin and Methylpred Pak which I have been taking as directed 2 days now. I have NOT had an 'incident' since and wonder .... (I even hate thinking it or even typing it ...for fear of being jinxed ).... but could these meds have helped in alleviating and ending this cycle or is it just a fluke meaning the cycle ended on it's own... Whatever the answer is I am GRATEFUL !!!  I feel like a human being again..

The answer is yes...no...maybe...... ::)several people on the board have used antihistamines succesfully so maybe that's doing the trick.....maybe he's just done with you this round. Hoping that's the case.

A Methylprednisolone dose pack gives me a break every single time I take it - and I've used them for many years when I absolutely have to have a break. (I try to stay with two per year maximum, but have broken that rule in occasions) One to two days before I finish the course, they come raging back.

Unless your cycle happened to end, be prepared for a return. Let's hope it's gone and you got a nice free ride!

Well me not being exactly sure what methylprednisolone is, I went and googled it, and found this:

"Prednisone and methylprednisolone are both corticosteroid (steroid) medications. They have similar effects on the body..."

So if it's giving you a prednisone effect, I'd say don't be too hopeful the cycle has ended, it could be that the attacks are temporarily shut down, and just in case, you should have your very best abortives lined up and ready to go when you taper off of it because the CH could rage back purty strong.

And watch out for roid rage.  :D :o
