You obviously don't like Limbaugh's politics, and that is OK, but you cannot hold his addiction against him any more than you can hold it against Svenn (whom I regard very highly) or against me, who was popping Percocets, Vicodin, Tylenol 3, and Fiorinol 3 like M&M's back in '82 and '83.  We each were prescribed them by Drs and took them under Drs advice and control.  The Dr's stupidity in allowing us to lose control cannot be held totally against us.  Should we have stopped it sooner?  Yes, but when in such pain and under the influence of such drugs it is not possible to be totally rational about their usage.  Someone outside has to step in and help us recognize the problem and deal with it. 

If you notice whenever a newbie talks about being prescribed narcotics or opiods I'm STRONGLY against it.  I know the danger it presents, and it is a danger that the one involved doesn't recognize until it is far to late for him to deal with it by himself. 

I am so very greatful that I was intervened before it got to the point Limbaugh got to, or the point Svenn was at when he detoxed.  I have nothing but admiration for the two of them in their fight to get free from the Dr induced addiction and their remaining free.

Now, if you want to argue his involvement over politics it's different, but don't be led astray over something that is not germaine to the argument.

Johnny, that is not the objection as it was raised.

If you object to him on personal grounds that's fine, but that is not the objection raised by Ginger.  I don't like a lot of things about him either, but his drug addiction was caused by another, and I don't think he is totally to be held responsible for it.

I agree and I haven't watched one in years. The ratings shrink every year. No doubt Rush was picked with the idea that more anti-intellectualism might give it a boost. Sad to say, it probably will.

Don't really give a crap about it.

My only comment was on the type of message that Limbaugh being a judge would send to our younger set that does watch it. 

My comment was based on the crap that has always spewed from his mouth and his very public misuse of medications, prescribed or not and how he handled it publicly, not very well I might add.

I don't judge people based on past drug use or misuse and frankly try not to judge them at all. 

Again what ticked me off was what kind of message this would send our younger generation.

Jerry: If you want to admire someone like Limbaugh for what ever reason that is your choice, just as it is my choice not to do so. 

I can understand admiring someone for rising above an addiction and bettering themselves in the process, personally, I've yet to see how Limbaugh has "bettered" himself.

Limbaugh is an entertainer.  Just like talk show hosts, comedians, actors, etc.

I honestly don't think anyone really cares.

Here's an idea.  We'll take Limbaugh out as a judge and replace him with Roman Polanski.  This seems to be more Roman's "thing" anyway, being it's young girls and all . . . .

I have no problem with your dislike of Rush.  I think he is over the top myself.  My only issue was your attack on him for his addiction.  It was not self induced.  Had it been I would agree with you whole heartedly, but when it is caused by the medical profession who then don't recognize the issue and deal with it continue to add to the problem I have trouble holding Rush accountable for the addiction. 

The only thing I was calling attention to is that.  I'm more concerned with whether or not the medical community is learning anything from it.

The issue that ticked me off was, an already Turdy situation is made even $hittier by adding crappy Limbaugh to the mix.  You can, add more $hit to $hit, it just makes the $hit pile bigger and harder to clean up, there by making matters worse.  ;D
