Title: checking in - DHE
Post by Val_ on Sep 22nd, 2009 at 2:21pm
Good morning,   :)

I have been around, reading mostly.  Been dealing with the possibility of a job loss, trying to secure another, and now it's all in transition.  My company has idiots running it.  I'll be glad to get out.
So... as many of you know, I've been dealing with daily CH for most of the year, GON Block helped tremendously for all of a day. I had the clearest head since Jan!!!   :D
I am now in the hospital for IV DHE treatment with high hopes that I will be out of pain for as long as I have been in!   ;)  I will be on DHE or four days.  That makes for a 5-day stay with all the tests, etc. they ran beforehand.  Gives me time to get back to reading more on the board that I haven't had as much time to check out!   8-)

So - just wanted to say HI and give an update!  Will do so again after my check-out next week too, let ya know how things turn out!!

Both times Brew was inpatient for DHE, it stopped the cycle in its tracks while in the hospital.  When he got home he had rebound headaches for about a week and then the beast left him alone for 9 months.

After two 18 month chronic cycles, 9 months was a blessed relief.  I hope it works as well for you.

Try not to be bored.

haha who could be bored with all these ICU nurses playing dig for the veins for IVs today with no luck??  Ugh... on my 2nd IV in my main arm vein opposite the elbow, first left arm now the right and they don't like to stay there (can't keep the arm straight all the time) - they wanna put in a PICC line in the morning now. :o  A bit more invasive than I was going for... but I'll do what it takes.

The nurses searching for veins with the needle kept apologizing and asking if they're hurting me - ThaT was funny.   ;D

It sure is interesting doing things without my right arm now though (I'm right-handed)  :D

Good luck, Val!  You NEED the break!

As far as the needles in the veins goes, do as my ex always does, when they are poking around trying to find a vein, demand that a pediatric nurse come and find it.  Even better, a neonatal nurse!

Keep us informed, dear ...

Grumble Grumble What was plan B again?  Or am I on C, or F, or L.   >:(

Well, no such luck with this crap plan, who's idea was this anyway - oh, yeah... mine.   :-X

DHE didn't work for me.  Oh well.  Not everything works for every person!  One more med to try for now, I think (according to Goadsby,) then byebye insurance anyway HA good timing.  Then I'm on my own - just me and CB???  :P  It's sure to work - I've heard lots of good seed success stories from you all!!!    8-)
