Title: Airlines and imitrex injectors?
Post by kiritz on Feb 15th, 2009 at 3:28pm
Hello All:  Does anyone have experience with airline traffic and carrying on imitrex injectors?  I am planning a trip with carryon luggage.

Thanks in advance,

Stewart :)

It's prudent to get a written statement from your doctor giving diagnosis and list of medications which you will be carrying with you.

What Bob said.  The auto injector looks odd on the X-ray image.

Wishing you well,

Ray

Edited to change radar to xray....

I've never had a problem...and as they say, "don't leave home without it."

I take it out and show the security people. I tell them it's for migrains because eveyone understands that. They never give me any grief.

I just took mine as a carry on for the first time last month.  Just tell them at the first podium.  They will even visually inspect it if you don't want it going through the X-ray.  Here is a link.

My husband had this in his carryon last month when we flew to Mexico. The cartridges were still in the box with the RX label on them, and we had no problem.

I couldn't agree more, with the above statement!

I carry a pack in my pocket, and another in my carry on bag.  That way I know I have four full shots with me at all times.

I have never been questioned or had any problem with them.  I have even flown over to and around Europe with them, with no problem.  NEVER questioned about them.

I think a lot of the worry about liquids has passed.  Just be sure to have it with RX labels and I'd inform them before they question you about it.  Be proactive.

You should have no problem as long as you have the scripts on the package.  Keep medications in the origional packaging.

I have gone through security with the vials of trex and syringes in my camera bag.  (I don't use autoinject) and I have never had a problem.

I've flown many times with the auto injects, or vials and syringes, or nasal sprays in my laptop bag. Just make sure they are labeled with your script, you should have no problems. I never even got asked about them.
