Title: Re: Head Injury Post by LasVegas on Sep 29th, 2003, 3:37pm Searching archives can be enough to bring on a CH itself sometimes. Understood, but if there is a link, please post. Thanks. Gregg in Las Vegas |

Title: Re: Head Injury Post by Ree on Sep 29th, 2003, 8:06pm Everyone looks for an excuse... a common link... CH'ers common link is a deformed HYPOTHALAMUS.........(thingy in your brain) If you have that then some things can trigger your CH's...ie: MAYBE a wack on the head. for some people.. You were probably gonna get them anyway even if you didn't bonk your head............... sorry Ree |

Title: Re: Head Injury Post by badfly on Sep 30th, 2003, 5:58am Errr Ree, I understood that the hyperthalmus idea was clarified! Goadsby admited that he only found enlarged grey matter in the hyperthalmus DEURING a HA. Thus one can as easily say the HA enlarges the Hyperthalmus as the hyperthalmus is the problem. Feel free to correct me if you think I have misunderstood. |

Related Articles, Links Cluster headache following head injury: a case report and review of the literature. Turkewitz LJ, Wirth O, Dawson GA, Casaly JS. Midwest Center for Head-Pain Management, Troy, Ohio 45373. A relation between head trauma and cluster headache is frequently described in the literature. The percentage of cluster patients with a history of head injury is approximately 16.5 when several large studies are reviewed. The present paper reports another case where there is close proximity between head injury and the onset of cluster headache. A review of the literature attempts to document the supposition that there is indeed a causal or precipitous role for head injury in cluster cephalgia pathogenesis. Dipartimento di Science Neurologiche, Universita La Sapienza di Roma. This appears to be the first report of cluster-like headache secondary to post-traumatic subdural hematoma. A 39 year old man consulted us for cluster-like headache on the right side following an injury to the right frontotemporal region some 45 days before. A CT scan revealed a chronic subdural hematoma in the right frontotemporal region. We discuss the possible relationship between the head injury and the headache and suggest the value of CT scanning in patients with cluster headache.
