Title: TRAGETY HIT MY FAMILY Post by toothpick on Sep 26th, 2003, 4:51pm HI CLUSTERHEADS I was just starting to browes over the cluster site thursday sept18 when the wife who was downtown shopping comes into the house holling for me to get to the hospital because my nephew Brodie had been in a bad accident at work. I rushed to the hospital to find the RCMP inteviewing my brother turns out Brodie was feeding a roof truss into a press roller that presses the gang nails into the wooden truss these rollers are only 1and3/4 inches apart and he went through them up to his upper thighs. The air ambulance couldn't fly over the rockies because of bad weather so the dr. stabalized him and the ambulance with the doc on board drove him 11/2 hrs to Banff Alberta were they flew him by chopper to Foothills Hospital Calgary. At the Foothills they had to amputate both legs just below the knees. I have been there untill last nite helping the family deal. The kid just turned 19 the monday before and is the nicest kid you would want to meet the docs in Calgary feel they can save the knees and thighs but the kids got a long road ahead. Thanks to the info I got here imitrex injections verapamill and oxy the longest clustrer of my life was mostly under control a week previous to the accident so I was able to offer all my support I drove back from Calgary last nite and as soon as I get my affairs in order I will go back. Just had to check in and tell you guys with kids in the work force BE SURE THEY HAVE HAD PROPER TRAINING AND ALL SAFETY PROCEDURES AND DEVICES ARE IN PLACE!!!! See Ya later RUSS |

I try not to think about my husbands job too much, he works on paper machines at the paper mill, for he is in danger of getting caught in them all the time. Several people have gotten sucked in and lived with horrible injuries, and some have died. I do silently pray for him each day though... I'm so very sorry to hear about Brodie, may he find strength. :(mel |
