Title: Family or Pack ? Post by drnoe on Sep 24th, 2003, 8:37am Good morning campers, after looking at the posts inre the dwebe with the elastic band HA cure and the ones for Barbara D's "...Blow Up" . I had this thought; I've seen some folks refer to this board as a Family. Seems to me more of a 'Pack' i.e. Sharing of strength and affection to members in need and ferocious in defense of the Pack. Any thoughts? Pack suits me. Woof |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by Margi on Sep 24th, 2003, 8:46am No, DrNoe, "family" is the right description for this group. To me, the word "pack" indicates wolves who fight each other for food. Even in our darkest hours here, there are few among us who wouldn't drop everything, do anything, even break laws to help a fellow clusterpeep in need. Whether we've met in person or not. To me, that's FAMILY. However, we CAN develop a collective pack mentality when an intruder tries to prey on our family. We've had numerous intruders here over the years who try to take advantage of people in pain. We're pretty conditioned now to quickly identify them and chase them away. Rightly so, if you ask me. |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by drnoe on Sep 24th, 2003, 8:59am Fair enough Margi. I don't think wolves fight their own pack members for food so that doesn't bother me. Also, perhaps you've had a better experience with human familys than me. Never had a large family.Might be fun. BTW it's not dr Noe. Basically just my initials. Can I call you sister? Dan |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by drnoe on Sep 24th, 2003, 9:07am Hi BobG, Maybe. I had my own stress test with someone last night and then went a few rounds with my alter ego (CH) so I can't say I'm not grouchy but my intention was to voice my admiration for BarbaraD and the others who step forward to protect. Wolves and other pack beings are a paragon of virtue to me. Sorry if anyones offended. Dan |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by Margi on Sep 24th, 2003, 9:09am LOL you can call me anything but Marjee. I really hate that. (It's Margi - the "g" sounds as it does in "girl", not as in "giraffe". Get it? I curse my mother every day for naming me this unpronouncable name!) Welcome to the fam, Dan. ;) |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by BobG on Sep 24th, 2003, 9:13am drnoe, Guess you can see I removed my message. At first glance I mis-read your post. Then after I answered I re-read it again and realized my mistake. Sorry for my comments. |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by BobG on Sep 24th, 2003, 9:19am LOL. Maybe I shouldn't have said I removed it and let everyone wonder about their sanity. Bye now. I just getting off work and I'm going to Vegas ;D |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by BarbaraD on Sep 24th, 2003, 10:01am Dan, I've been the "MOther Hen" on this MB since the beginning and I'm real protective about my "chickens". Don't like anyone picking on them. I get real preturbed when they don't check in and upset when they start peckin' at each other (oh kids will be kids up to a point but....) If you get a chance DO meet other Clusterheads. You'll see then why we refer to ourselves as "Family". There's a "bond" that's indescribable, but you'll know it when it happens. Years ago 5 of us met in Rochester NY (the beginning of OUCH). I flew into the airport to be met by a clusterhead who was "about 33, blue eyed, blonde headed and about 6 feet tall". That's the only clue I had to what he looked like. The weirdest thing was I RECOGNIZED him across a crowed airport and yelled at him. Do you know how many men were standing around that fit that description at that time? A bunch. How I knew Dave (oh did I mention he had his back to me at the time?) is still a mystery, but I KNEW him. We still haven't figured that one out to this day. Since then, I've had the opportunity to meet a lot of our OUCH members and it's been the same with all of them. Instant bonding. WE have a support team that's super fantastic and it's there 24/7. And I guess ina way we are a lot like a pack of wolves - they protect their own and are very family orientated. Anyhow it's something to think about - Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by Cerberus on Sep 24th, 2003, 10:08am Wolf packs are one of the most tightly knit groups in the animal kingdom.....not a bad mental association. Only problem is when feeding time comes around the "Alpha" male gets to eat first, then he will take a portion to his mate...affectionately known as the "Alpha Bitch" and the rest fend for themselves, pups eat last. I'm hungry and I don't reckon we've determined heirarchy yet........wanna fight? LOL! Ramon |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by drnoe on Sep 24th, 2003, 11:09am Cerberus; Help yourself as I am one of those strange Vegan wolves. No no no fighting. That's how I got the head injury that may have precipitated my first CH. I don't mean i won't fight but not w/ another'pack' member. Too much respect, y'know Can't we all just aaaaarrrrgggghhhhh along? Dan |

Title: Re: Family or Pack ? Post by drnoe on Sep 25th, 2003, 1:43am Far be it from me to resist the democratic majority on this. We are family (sing it) And looking at the membership rolls a pretty big family at that. Hmmmmm. A...family pack? Haha ( I just came out of a pretty sharp attack and I may be a bit loopy yet) Hope we all have a PF night and if some don't may they be brief. G'night all Dan |

Or "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family. WIth a great big hug and a kiss from me to you. Won't you say you love me too" I HATE barney lol BUt LOVE the wiggles. Ask me any wiggles song and I know all the words. Hmm can ya tell my kids watch wiggles or listen to them EVERY chance they can?!!!! Ok back to the subject.....family or pack. Like the first half of the pack analogy but after that it flops so I guess IMO I say family. |
