Title: Worn out with a sore head
Post by Carl_D on Sep 22nd, 2003, 10:37am
Well, I got some sleep Sunday morning, and got hit with 2 more level 10 attacks, brutal as hell, interrupting my sleep. Guess the beast just had to remind me that it'll stop at nothing. Out of 'Trex injections, trying to get more right now. Called another neuro this morning, and trying to get ahold of that 'quack' from the pain management place to see if they can offer any solution other than the Neurontin crap that messes me up but does nothing for CHs or pain. I get my o2 tank tomorrow, which seems like forever.
Not only was Saturday a washout for me due to my head, but I had to bail on recording, rehearsing, anything yesterday, due to the fact that my head gave me hell, and, you know how your head can pulsate with pain? Mine has been doing that for 3 days now, but it is like my eyes, everything I look at kinda pulsates. Only way I can describe it. Just like a 'boom-boom'. Could be cluster related or not, don't know. I have 3 other headache conditions to top off the CH's: TMJ, CPH, and Migraines. I can deal with a migraine, but not the CH's. They want to kill me.
Mike was bummed out that we didn't get much done this weekend as far as recording, but I did all I could Saturday and was wiped for Sunday. I just apologized and told him, "Now you see what this shit does to me." This is why my life has been a trainwreck for many years now.
I got very little sleep last night. 2 more attacks, a 10 and a 7-8, and couldn't lie back down after 4:30 this morning. To say I am a little frustrated is an understatement. I hoped to get at least 2 songs completed for our demo this weekend. Instead, we got the bass, drums and a scratch guitar track laid down, but I was in no shape to play at all yesterday, and singing/screaming was out of the question. These guys know I am in pain 24/7, and can tell you last week I was not doing good with my head, but still worked through it. This week screwed me up. I go back Thursday night, and told Mike and Doc I am getting my o2 this week, gonna try and get some 'Trex, and some Vicoden or something to deal with the constant ache in the back of my skull that never goes away, just increases and decreases in pain. Feels like I got whopped upside the back of my head with a baseball bat. After 2 cat-scans this year alone, they still can't figure out what is causing that.
Mike has walked in on me a couple of times when I have had to bail because of a CH, and said it looks brutal and intense. I told him he couldn't even begin to imagine just how intense it really is.
I've got a couple of days to try and arm myself for next weekend, so we can get something done, and hopefully I will be more functionable than I was this past weekend.
Wish me luck, and thanks for the encouraging words; always nice to know somebody out there understands.

Peace,
Carl D

Wow, Carl......

What a damn battle you are in.

If I could take some of that pain for you sweetie, I would.  Seems there's just no rest for the weary.  Hope you can find the solution you need for some much needed relief and rest.

Good luck Carl D.
Sorry your head hurts. I know what the band thing is like.
It's tough to rise above and sometimes impossible.
But you will make it. Just keep as positive as you can.

Pain and Anxiety make good food for musical inspiration do they not?

Sorry your're having such a bad time man......really wish I could say something to make it all vanish, but, alas..........I'm busy boxing with the bastard too.

I'm with ya man, I'm sure the rest of the "family" is too.

Carl hang in their, I know you got things to take care of with all that you have going on. Don't get in to big of a rush because that may only make it worse. Ride the storm out, and when it passes you will be on your way to your persuits. Glad your getting O2 tomorrow. Use it as directed,Jonny knows about it. And their are some good tips to the left. Get yourself checked out before you got to get checked in. And hang in their...Surf

I feel for you. I thought I was going to die the other night and nothing can help me. I just can't believe having that much pain and not having something majorly wrong with me. I thought maybe it is an annurism (sorry I know that is not spelled right) and I was going to blow blood right thru my left eye. It wasn't and I did survive, but I just know it is going to come back and last longer tonight. Either way good luck to you.
