Title: Re: new member Post by Prense on Sep 21st, 2003, 2:58pm Sorry to hear you are suffering like this! Would you describe your headaches? You will find that we are full of advice, but we like to know more about your HAs first...hate to give advice that can negatively affect you. Take the cluster quiz on the left and see what ya think. Hope you get to feeling better! Chris |

Title: Re: new member Post by 5-string on Sep 21st, 2003, 3:23pm Hello, I'm sorry your head is hurting. Have you been to a doctor? Has this been diagnosed yet? Is it vascular or muscular? Get a referral from your doctor to see a neurologist if you hav'nt. Wishing you the best and let us know how it's going. ....Mark.. |

Title: Re: new member Post by goaway on Sep 21st, 2003, 3:33pm We are glad to welcome you. But FIRST, we want you to have your headaches checked out by a COMPETENT neurologist. Had an MRI scan yet? What diagnostics? Cannot be too careful until you know for certain that you have "just" cluster headaches. Anyway, we're here and glad to know you. |

Title: Re: new member Post by OneEyeBlind on Sep 21st, 2003, 5:11pm Welcome. The rest gave you good advice. The only thing I will add is that headaches are caused by many different reasons. Some of them extremely serious medical conditions. Hound your doctor is you have to, but make sure you understand WHY and WHAT TYPE of headache you are getting. Understanding your headache will help you to find the proper medical advice for it !!!! Good luck !!!!! |

Title: Re: new member Post by Charlie on Sep 22nd, 2003, 12:26am Welcome aboard and if you stick around you'll find some good ideas and ways to deal with this horror. All of us know exactly what you're dealing with. Here are two helpful links: The first is to a description of this disorder that does a wonderful job explaining to families, friends and employers what cluster headaches are and that they have little to do with what is thought of as a “headache.” The second is to a technique learned from a neurologist that works well for me and others. http://www.ouch-uk.org/ch/note_colleagues.cfm http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/ Charlie |

Title: Re: new member Post by Miss_Deleny on Sep 22nd, 2003, 7:38am Welcome Mrs_Mac! I'm sorry you had to hunt for us but glad you found us. Like the others before me have said, get yourself checked by a knowledgible Nero (HA specialist) to make sure there isnt anything serious going on there. I'm hoping you don't have CH but if indeed you find out that you do, this is the best place to be ... ALOT of information here, both through the links to the left and through the kind people here. Keep us informed on what is going on. Wishing you PFDaN's, ~April~ |

Title: Re: new member Post by BarbaraD on Sep 22nd, 2003, 12:55pm Go to the left and click on the Cluster Quiz. Try to asertain if you have CH. If you do, then go to the neuro armed with information about CH. Know what you're talking about because he/she might NOT. If it's not CH, then get some tests run until you find out what KIND of HA you have. As some have already said - there are a lot of different headaches out there and each one has a different treatment. While we're the experts on CH, we're not ready to give advice on other types of HAs. Wishing you PF days. Hugs BD |
