Title: Rome Report Preview Post by don on Sep 17th, 2003, 2:31pm OUCH has recently achieved credibility from the world's most eminant researchers and neuros. The reception OUCH recieved was beyond my wildest expectations. I was prepared to have to corner the US Docs to make our presence known. Not neccesary, the Docs, both US and otherwise, sort ME out in the crowd both at the meeting and on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. The first to introduce herself was Dr. Buzzi from Italy who had practiced for some years at Harvard Medical School. Whats so special about Dr. Buzzi? She discovered Imitrex/Imigran. She made an effort to meet the OUCH officers. Dr. Sheftell, founder of the New England Headache Clinic, sought me out after the meeting and excitedly stated "we got to go to your convention in New York this year". Taking photos at the meeting seemed inappropriate, until an Italian neurologist requested a picture of all the OUCH officers with Doctor Nappi anfd Goadsby. All in all OUCH was recieved in a very dignified, professional and warm manner. Quote from Doctor P.J. Goadsby during his summary presentation................................................... The Cluster Club (Neuros and scientists) has made history by having the patient group (OUCH) here with us today". Damn near fell off my chair. He thinks they THEY made history? I cant begin to tell you, but I will in the report, what it meant for OUCH. A Doctoral candidate from the University of Pennsylvania will be doing the first ever thesis on the sociology of headache sufferers. She has asked to use OUCH US as a resource for her paper. |

Title: Re: Rome Report Preview Post by BobG on Sep 17th, 2003, 3:32pm Wow! Way to go don and OUCH :D Quote:
Folks this is history in the making. Print it! From a small group of people in a garage to world wide recognition in just 3 years. Unbelievable! OUCH is a small organization now but just wait. The Cancer Society and Jerry Lewis' Telethon were small at one time also. Thanks don and everyone connected with OUCH that made this happen. |

I don't understand this. A year ago, danged few Docs would even acknowlege OUCH/CHer's. All of a sudden, they're growing wild and falling out of the trees. Better times ahead........ RJ |

Title: Re: Rome Report Preview Post by Riccardo on Sep 18th, 2003, 12:54am Hey there. The story can be reassumed with the Elaine motto (Ciao My Lady..... not too much on the board, but I keep you, and all you in my heart!) We are, each of us, angels with one wing and we can only fly by embracing one another. Neurologists have discovered that they (right wing) cannot fly without us patients (left wing) and each one is necessary to "take off" with studies. Ciao to all you |
