Title: canadian imitrex
Post by grumpett on Sep 15th, 2003, 5:33pm
is there anyone in this site from canada on imitrex injections?    I asked my dr for it and the nurse called me and said that they don't make it anymore in injections!!!!

I have tried pills and inhaler to only agree with most that it does not help.

Please let me know if you have it and live in ontario.

thank you.

I am at the end of my rope and do not have much patience left!

Or they may have just been stoooooooooooooopid.  ???Like senior citizen and minority dumbasses who think their CA recall election vote won't be counted if they get a punch card ballot.

What Jonny said!

I live in Quebec and have no problem getting my imitrex!  Did you call your drug store just to check?  Your doctor's secretary and or doctor has pulled a fast one on you.  I don't know why??  Ask the question.

good luck
Ann

BTW Tari, even though you are not getting hit, build up your supply of the injections.  Get all you can.  Build up so that you are well supplied when it comes back.

Glad to hear you are PF.

Grumpett, don't let them BS you.  It is still available!

Good luck
Chuck

thank for the input people!  I figured as much!  WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS DOCTOR?  I have an appointment with another doctor in October (if i can wait)  He even made the suggestion that it is not clusters because...get this...I am a woman!!!! So..BIG f- - -g  deal.  I have been through this for the last 30 years and I am not going to let that s.o.b.  give me that crap..
I was diagnosed by a nerosurgon in Montreal 15 yrs ago and he is the only one who made sense! But anyway you people have really helped and want to thank you all.

Souns like it's time to use my
"Your Fired!"
suggestion.

The beast is a bad enough opponent, don't
need your supposed health care providers
being one.

Find another Dr. ASAP.

My 2 cents worth.

guess what!!

I just got a call from my druggest! He said he got a call from my Dr. and the injections will be ready tomorrow for $100.00 for 2.    OUCH... Anyway I don't know what the nurse meant but the druggest said  this is Imitrex , but a new one!!  I have never tried it before, so i don't know the difference!
I am sure I will find out tomorrow how to use it, But was wondering where you inject it (i am chicken of needles) and how do you only inject some of the dose, that i have read, that most of you use.
By the way, I work in a health institute for the aged and this Dr. practices there, so maybe he heard me bad mouthing him yesterday and was asking my pears about Imitrex and if it was discontinued so he decided to let me have it!
Anyway, anymore input on the drug would be greatly appreciated!

Also, from the person who was from Quebec that respoded, I was diagnosed by Dr Penny of the Montreal Nero institute, who has since went to Chicago Mayo Clinic. Have you ever heard of him?  I know Montreal is a big place but.....it IS a small world.

Hi Grumpett,

I just read your message and I almost choked... I could not picture myself without Imitrex shots  :P.  I am from Montreal as well and if this should happen (no more Trex shots in Canada), I am moving!

I am very anxious to hear what this "new Imitrex" is all about.  Please keep us posted.

As far as your Doc is concerned, it doesn't sound too encouraging.  You might want to think about switching...

Best of luck with everything!

Hey Grumpett!

Where you inject is entirely up to you.  Some of us inject in our thighs, others in the arm..some in the stomach...you get the picture.  At the price you are paying you surely have the auto-injector...it's a cinch and comes with a video to show you how to load and use the injector.  It'll pinch a little and then you'll be fine.  You'll probably get a bit of a lump/welt.  Not to worry...it's not permanent!   ;)

Never heard of your neuro however I will be seeing a new one in november in Montreal at the Montreal General.  After being badgered by friends and MiCHel here...I finally got off my butt and made an appointment.  Can't remember his name now! LOL

Good luck with the "new" imitrex and keep us posted.

hugs
Ann

I go for the leg!  Plenty of room to move the injection site around some as not to hit the same spot over and over.  The needle is completely painless (especially when getting hit)  You do feel the med going in, but it is nothing to fret either.  What are you gonna do with 2 shots??  Hopefully it is at least 2 boxes...but still!!!  That's like going to McDonalds and ordering 1 damn french fry!
