Title: Women: Is it true? Post by Jewel on Sep 12th, 2003, 9:32am That clusters are worse than child birth? |
||
Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by kbbogo1 on Sep 12th, 2003, 9:48am Indeed! Even worse than 2 root canals with no novicane. That was a pretty tight call, though. The good thing is that I never had any clusters (or migraines) while pregnant. Clusters came back with a vengence within a week of giving birth. Sometimes I think the epidural triggered it. Kim B |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by CryingInPain on Sep 12th, 2003, 9:55am I would answer this with a ....BIG HELL YEH! hehe I did not have natural Child Birth but I did lay in labor for 16 weeks on meds stopping the birth only to end up with an emergency C-Section and whoaaaaa I would rather have 10 more of those then 1 more HA ~Hugs~ Jen |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by catlind on Sep 12th, 2003, 10:05am I went through childbirth 3 times, twice with epidurals and one natural. On the pain scale natural childbirth hits an 8 and a full blown CH hits a 10. I think for me the biggest issue is that at the end of the pain of childbirth you have something wonderful (for a short time at least, then teen years hit ;) ) whereas at the end of a CH you have only the knowledge of the next CH to come. Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by 9erfan on Sep 12th, 2003, 10:32am I thought women didn't get clusters?? :o |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by Jewel on Sep 12th, 2003, 10:34am LOL That's funny because during my first appointment with a neurologist, she told me that it was very unlikely that I have CHs because I'm female. They are supposedly "uncommon" in women. |
||
Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by UnsolvedEquation on Sep 12th, 2003, 10:38am I'm not a female ... so I can't compare it to childbirth...but it sure is alot worse than broken bones and kidney stones! (They hurt a lil' too) |
||
Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by Jewel on Sep 12th, 2003, 10:50am Worse than a yeast infection? Uhhhhhh.....I dunno. What do you ladies think? :o ;D :o ;D |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by kim on Sep 12th, 2003, 11:41am Uh......... ;D-ANYway, Childbirth was cake compared to ch. Childbirth hurts and then your eva so happy and it's OVER. Clusters are relentless - pain over and over. It's two completely different kinds of pain. I'd rather have a baby than clusters. That probably made no sense, but whaddya expect from this poster ;D |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by Seth on Sep 12th, 2003, 11:45am :) there is one thing that I have found out that hurts more , and that is see your own child get hurt. |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by 9erfan on Sep 12th, 2003, 11:49am Yep, I've had a Dr. tell me I didn't have clusters because I am a woman also. What a jackass! |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by tsayswhy on Sep 12th, 2003, 12:12pm told me the same there are more men then women"but" also said he has been seeing more and more women each year. maybe god thought child birth wasn't painfull enough so he thought he would challenged alittle more lol. that makes us pretty tough women ;D |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by Lori on Sep 12th, 2003, 12:59pm Had two kids, it hurt alot but I didn't feel like I wanted to die like I do with a cluster! It is a different pain for sure. |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by aprilbee on Sep 12th, 2003, 1:02pm Child birth was a breeze compared to CH, I had nurses in amazement because I never even so much as wimpered, and Kim's right, at the end you totally forget the pain because you get this precious gift at the end of all of it, you get jack squat after a CH except an ugly face, ugly hair, and a sore ass from sitting in the shower.... :) |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by Zonie on Sep 13th, 2003, 2:20pm It's absolutely true....CHs are much worse than childbirth. Intensity of the pain is similar to giving birth to my 8+ pound daughter breech. But when it was over, it was over...and having clusters is like giving birth 3, 4, 5, or 6 times a day....not much fun at all. I'd trade my clusters for child birth any day of the week. |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by nancyc on Sep 13th, 2003, 4:33pm I was in labor for 51 hours...and that is why I only have one child...but one ch is more painful than the entire 51 hours i spent in labor...pretty scary , huh? smiles,nancyc ps wish some docs could understand this. |

(that's 1095 kids for those that don't wanna pull out their calculators) And with THAT many kids, I think the CH might be the LAST of your worries!!! heehee ... Chuck |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by taraann on Sep 14th, 2003, 8:28am I must agree....having a baby is much nicer than having a CH, having a baby you totally forget about the pain once you have that gift in your arms. CH i never forget the pain even when its done. |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by Spindrift on Sep 14th, 2003, 4:36pm A most interesting thread, and highly informative for this person who will never experience either the pleasure or the pain of childbirth. Must admit I'd been skeptical of the claim that CHs were as bad as giving birth. But no longer. Now how about the other pain I'd heard compared to our common woe: amputation without anesthesia. Any comments? sd |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by hopefull on Sep 15th, 2003, 7:48am with child birth there is a beginning and end...don't feel that way about CH's...my kids were 8- 2oz, 9-10oz , and 8-8oz...all had to be pulled from my body ...long labors...a cake walk compared to clusters.....had a couple weeks of hell with my second...CH for a straight 2 weeks...Didn't know i had clusters then thought they were just bad migrains...no meds and preg....stayed in bed the whole time....while try'n to keep up with 4 year old... |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by Kenzie60 on Sep 15th, 2003, 10:24am I have had 4 children and was in hard labor for 48 hours with no medication before they finally decided to do a C-section. I would rather do that everyday than have a CH. Ch pain is much worse than childbirth. Roseanne |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by fubar on Sep 15th, 2003, 11:29am If you can imagine your leg from the knee down being rotated 360 degrees (full circle), basically ripping almost every tendon and ligament to shreds, only to have one bastard ligament hold on tight enough to the patella (knee cap) so that it shot *back* around with enough force to shatter it *and* the femur... well that happened to me. I was told I'd never walk normally on the leg again (who siad I ever walked normally anyway). The pain was, at the time, more than I'd ever experienced. More than anyone should experience. It's not like having a baby, but I can't imagine a baby would be worse. Then I got clusters and found out what pain was. -Fu |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by Smurf on Sep 15th, 2003, 1:03pm Since I'm a woman, too, and can't have clusters ;) Never had a baby, but they're worse than: *migraines :o *CRUSHED foot (and all the surgery and therapy that followed) :'( * yes, yeast infections *bladder infections - even to the point of bleeding ::) I think if you know the cause of something, it's easier to deal with it. -Smurf |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by StanTheMan on Sep 15th, 2003, 2:55pm Most interesting thread....(especially since my wife just gave birth...) You know, I think there might be some additional value to the testimonials given by the female CH sufferers here. Is there any way these types of testimonials could be summarized, quantified and forwarded to health insurance companies to (some how, some way) give these folks an additional CLUE!?!? There's gotta a be a sizable number of female executives or senior managers that have had a child or two. Maybe I'm off base, or just dreaming, but I can't help but think that this kind of information might help bring some perspective to this vastly under-estimated and understood disorder. Whaddya think, clusterville? Has anything like this been kicked around? Regards to all and PFDAN.... StanTheMan |

Title: Re: Women: Is it true? Post by fubar on Sep 15th, 2003, 7:04pm Jonny, For all intents and purposes, I *did* have my leg ripped off. There was an alarming amount of damage. Ch is worse. I don't know why, but in serious injuries, you seem to be able to deal. Like the pain sort of becomes detached from your body and you know it's there but it doesn't really matter because you're quickly going into protective mode (doctors call it shock.) The thing is, CH doesn't seem to trigger this protection. -Fu |
