Title: do i belong here??? Post by phishphan on Sep 10th, 2003, 8:55am here are my symptoms... One sided (right),pressure and sinus congestion Feels like its running around my eye, down my cheek and around my upper molars. When its happening my right eye feels like its about to pop out of my head. Thought that smoke was causing it..pot smoke that is, I dont smoke ciggerettes. But when i stopped smoking the episodes still come on from time to time for no reason.. Ive had sinus surgery but it didnt do shit... Is one sided sinus problems a symptom of cluster headaches??Since I have been told by an ENT that my sinuses look fine..I dont know what the hell to do.. Percacets numb it,,,but its still there when they wear off.. Im just trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with me.... |

Title: Re: do i belong here??? Post by Melissa on Sep 10th, 2003, 9:04am Jewel is right about taking the cluster quiz on the left, also, it is important to get a referral from your doc to a neurologist. Please check out the OUCH website too, it has all the info. you need to fight clusters and deal with day to day life, if you indeed have CH's. Good Luck! :)mel |

Title: Re: do i belong here??? Post by ave on Sep 10th, 2003, 9:59am Phish, the mechanism behind cluster headaches makes your eyes tear and make your nose pinch closed. With enough mucus in it, the nostril on teh affected will get clogged as a result. The tears willmake the nose run. Many people get one sided headaches that are, fortunately for them, not clusters. That said, many cluster patients have a-typical sumptoms because the condition is not yet perfectly understood. Check out this page http://www.clusterheadaches.org/doctors.htm (and the rest of the OUCH information, it is excellent) and try and find a doctor who KNOWS about clusters. It is much the best way. Good luck |

Title: do you belong anywhere? Post by rumplestiltskin on Sep 10th, 2003, 11:16am As a Phish fan...you may feel comfortable here due to the few of us Deadheads here.... BUTT...as to Clusters...and I know this is hard for young and old Hippys...Butt...DO AS YER TOLD! Go to the links suggested and shit and learn a lot about CH. 1. If you have CH, you will do ANYTHING to fix em...which includes thoroughly researching the CH.Com and OUCH sites....and you will find you and yer face pains there. In which case....welcome home. 2.If yer smart, you will not quickly take a couple people's opinion from ANYWHERE to the bank as gospel. 3. If yer observant, you will note that symptoms and triggers, and management techniques of CH widely vary among individuals with this syndrome. 4. If you are kind and have CH, which is not necessarily a prerequsite for being here, you will share and help others here live thru this horror. In which case your quality of living will improve, yer homeowners association will not bug you about the height of yer weeds or the junk cars in yer driveway, and when you die you will go directly to heaven and/or be reborn in the species of yer choice. Title: Re: do i belong here??? Post by Heterag on Sep 10th, 2003, 11:30am ...with relevance to the pot smoking; on visiting a neurologist, I brought up the whole pot issue in relevance to its benefit / disadvantages during clusters; Neurologist: "If it helps, keep doing it. If it depresses you generally when you are smoking it - then try to reduce and/or stop the intake whilst in a cluster (much the same as beer) as depression plays a big part in cluster headaches (not least the suicide issue)." I pondered further with; "I have actually found that it can help to reduce the stress levels before a headache (hopefully therefore reducing the headache count-per-cluster) and most certainly saw the benefit in smoking straight after a headache (to reduce stress after the headache (feeling stressed / knackered / depressed / etc) in that at least there was something one could do to cheer ones self up after a headache." The reply; "Do what you feel helps - if you stop it and it gets worse, do it more. If you do it more and it gets worse, stop. Oh, and my son smokes it - he thinks I dont know, hehe". - just an FYI Heterag. |
