Dude sorry.......all I can tell ya is ta hang in there ! Ever hear about the frozen peas (or whatever bag of stuff) applied to yer head they talk about on here ? Am sure oxygen is out of the guestion rite now fer ya huh ? Don't drink a beer whatever ya do....chill out in a recliner not layin flat. It's all I can do fer ya rite now till sumone else steps in here....I'm a supporter. Pam that is sendin ya 'get thru this' vibes

Ya got a good doc ya can see fer abortives or discuss it ? Mite be a good plan for the 'what ta do' list

i just took 2 excedrin tahst what i did earlier my jaw is starting to lock and face going numb the nose is filling up too and the pressure on my left eye i f'in cant take this anymore 3 times within the last 24 hours....i cant pass out again i did the previous 2 times and once last year

As Cootie says, try a bag of frozen veggies on the back of your neck, or the side of your head, or even on your eye and nose. That helps many.

Put your face in front of the airconditioner on high is another .

Some respond instead to heat. Try a very hot shower with the water on your neck or back of the head. Or try a hot (as hot as you can stand) cloth on the back of you neck, the side of your head, your eye and nose.

Unfortunately, that is all I can come up with without any meds. Trial and error here

But hang in there!!!! YOU CAN SURVIVE THIS!

what i would do is try to relax every muscle and just sit and not move. talk to a doctor as soon as possible. you'll make it. in about an hour you'll be fine

Some ideas that have worked for others. Try one or a few.

Ice on your head.

Ice on your neck.

Hot coffee. Lots of it.

Rub apple cider vinegar all over your neck, chest, shoulders, arms, back. Not a joke. It works.

Exercise. Run in place...pushups...jumpin jacks.

Redirect blood flow: imagine warming your hands by forcing blood into them. Masturbate, or at least try to force the blood to flow there.

Take a shower. Either as hot or as cold as you can stand...depending on what feels better for you, hot or cold.

Put a few drops of hot pepper sauce UNDER your tongue, hold it there as long as you can.

Let me know if you want more ideas.

There's several people on this board from PA......maybe they can recommend a good doc or neuro fer ya cuz yu definetly need to find an abortive of 'sum sort' for relief bein so bad. You'd be suprised how many regular docs have enuff knowledge to help you with this or at least till you can get into a neuo. If you feel you are in too bad a shape get to the ER !!!!! That's one route that could help you for tonight !!!!?? Alot have had to do that when it gets too bad to handle. I'm jus a supporter and can't give much meds advice but there are things that could help you. Please find help and not go thru this 'not knowing what to do at all or have any abortives' ......asprin or tylonal won't normally help but am hopein it mite for you. Pam that hopes you find sumthin that can work fast with these attacks thru a good doc SOON (go to the ER if you need to !!!!!)

i took the frova last night i had 2 samples it did nothing everyone is talking about imitrax something like that and i saw a post that if u go to the site they will give you 10 dollar coupons off and will mail you 9 pills in 6 to 10 days just saying you never tried it i cant wait i have no insurance and i rather walk with one leg them go through another one of these f'in things i am going nuts now...they get so intense i pass out i am trying to keep cool i have the air conditioner on my face as one person said thank you

If you can still read, hang on ...
Sounds like you have no meds to help you out.
The ice may work, be careful though, I froze my eye before doing that.
Try your best to occupy your mind with anything.
If you think you might pass out, try a recliner, put a small very soft pillow under your neck to keep pressure off the back of your head.
DO NOT LAY FLAT ON YOUR BACK!!
If you feel panic, try running hot water over your head and neck, at this point, I'd suggest leaning over the shower side. We don't want you to fall in the shower.
I sometimes take a chair in the shower and sit for saftey.
Turn on the TV loud, the radio or whatever, something that will at least divert the slightest bit of attention.
I'm trying to write quick, keep yourself as busy as you can and remember to stay safe
It WILL pass ... my prayers are with you.
Come back here when it does pass, we need to talk about options for future attacks and preparing for them.

Geeze I think there's a trick to useing the air conditioner but have heard it works.....hope sumone can step in on that one....but you breathe in the cold air up close I hear takein deep breathes I think ? (sumone help me with that one ?) As far as the imitrex deal is I believe with each prescription you get a $ 10.00 rebate type deal and you can get the rebate with up to I think it is 6 scripts. So if you have no script it won't help. Sum docs will give out samples when ya go see em....least that'd get ya buy a while. We actually go to a internalist regular doc now for Brad's CH and he knows quite a bit about em and up on all the latest med treatments....it's worked for us since neuro's have such a long waiting list around here it's MONTHS before I can get him in. At least the regular doc is on the affordable list......a neuro is the way to go if you can tho of course ! Our new doc has been wonderful but insurence screws us on meds and only allowed so much a month. Doc calls them and then we are allowed more a month that gets us by sumwhat.......with no insurence am hopein you can get somethin figured out for this or get samples. i have the air conditioner on my face full blast i took the excedrin i think its passing i cant go on like this i just started a new job on this past monday i have to wake up in 5 hours .....i have not had a CH in over a year now until last night i been out of 2 of work for the past 5 months i get a job and here they come back....i just dont get it, i hope these free imitrax i signed up for come quick and how do i get O2 i have no medical insurance

Imitrex ran us $ 169.00 for 9 pills without insurence.......we had ta pay it till insurence approved more then 9 pills a month and got our doc ta call the insurence co's hotline but it took a few days cuz of course it was over the weekend so we had to pay for the extra pills. Brad was goin thru 3 or 4 a day so 9 a month wasn't gonna work !!! When insurence kicked in it paid all but bout $ 30.00 but had ta hassle with em every month ! Actually this time of year is when he gets hit when in cycle.....got somethin ta do with the change of seasons with change in light patterns I believe. Ya gotta have a script ta git o2 also....for the most part......I can't say much more about how else go go around it all. Sumone else here will know. Wish I could do more for ya......have ya tried the cold on yer neck ect like Chuck mentiond ? Cold shower on yer head maybe a while. Lotta people prefer the imitrex injections fer fastest relief if ya have a good doc ya could ask about that or print out info on here ta give him about all that. It's not really my area here but a good start fer things ta discuss with a good doc. Hope yer new boss understands if ya go inta work a lill burnt out. How long do yer cycles last ? Brad's is about every 3 years for about 7 to 8 weeks and they do start up in the fall !! So sorry ya gotta go thru this esp with the new job and all ! Pam that hopes yer doin ok ?

I still can't spell worth a shit........arghhhhhhh....thank goodness fer MODIFY and proff readin AFTER I send stuff........."duh" !

That's what Brad does (takes the imitrex pills)........he knows the feelings of one comein on and would sumtimes panic and take one hopein ta ward it off knowin it still takes a while ta kick in. He was on verapamil too.......but I ain't in any position ta really help much with meds except tell ya what Brad takes that helps him or works. He never would go to the ER but there were times early on when this all first started and he didn't have a good routine of abortives that he should of gone.......he started out chronic and it was BAD NEWS way back then. Bout 20 years ago actually. Should be some info in here on meds......or in the meds section. Hope yer head is stayin tagether........hope ya get some sleep too. Pam that is tryin ta help but can't advise much with meds

O2 is gonna be a lot cheaper than Imitrex and your GP should (if they know anything about clusters) be able to write you the script for this and get it delivered same day. If you have problems with getting the script, my doc wrote one for me. I'm right outside Harrisburg (about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from Phila). I can give you her name if ya wanna try and go through her (just IM me). I did the dancing jumping jack routine before I found Imitrex and O2. Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't forget to try the water, water, water, water, water, water, water. Every time you piss, you drink a big glassfull of water. maybe a gallon a day. It helps some and costs nothing.

Maybe you will be so busy pissing you will forget the pain :P

If you can get the injectable imigran/imitrex it is better. I have taken many of the pills and it did not help me, neither did the nasal spray. Inj works like a charm for many.

Hope you find something that helps soon. I know that when the cycle is over you feel invincible for a year or so until it returns

man that just intensifies the whole story when you got one comin on and no set plan to take to abort it.I feel for you. Ill send out the good zvibs your way ,maybe with all of us sending them they will break through the outer barrier.but you must create a plan of action to combat these effectively.I had to create my own and educate the ph on my cenario. the worst thing that can happen to me I found was bein in cycle without recourse. It's the streeess factor that kicks in and thats why for me I must have a plan. keep searchin and keep track of what helps and WHO doesn't.I got my list upstairs when I don't forget.Once I was to go in for an interview and had to be their within the hour,shortly after my relocation to California in the late 80s. Stress was high brought on by the new"in search of excellence"Job hunting that is. and bang one started to creep up on me as I quickly recognized the sighns.So without any meds and no doctor in town as I was a newcomer. I did what my body asked for . I quickly got off my but and almost ran to the park but instead I walked briskly. Back and forth back and forth in hopes to abort the darn thing. after about 25 min of fast pace the deamon decided to give up. WOW no attack. and I didn't hear a peep from it for at least a year or more. I don't remember must be the celexa.anyway ...get a plan and take care now. SURF

If anything works, it's that.
take off, go for a walk or a run. Get the heart and blood moving quickly.
It doesn't always work, but it's easier on your heart than doing Imitrex all day.
mix and match for maximum effectiveness.
We're all different so you have to find what works for you.

Well, what to say??

I mostly just pace the room back and forth<<<doesn't really help but I can't sit still, My best friend is the clock, I know that I can do anything for an hour and for me an hour is usually about it, I will kill time by taking a shower it might help a bit, but mostly it just takes up about 10 to 15 minutes, now I'm a forth of the way through, I will plan another task that takes a few minutes like grabbing the sprinklers out of the yard and putting them away that will take about 10 minutes now I'm about half way through, then I might take another shower, do you follow me, you need to try and fill up that hour with things you can do, just deal with it 10 minutes at a time. There are a lot of things I can't do while dancing with the beast like reading, typing, sitting still ETC.

This is certainly not perfect but for me it helps--------I'm feelin ya man, your stronger then that muther fuker and don't forget that, in a few weeks they'll be gone and you will be fine.

Get a good Doc. and milk him for samples, also I heard somewhere that you could go to the local fire department and get a hit of 02 maybe someone else knows more about that.

WOW! I just wish I could do more! hang tuff!

Try my circulatory technique. (It will work sometime) The first time I used it, it cut my attack from 20 minutes to less than 10.

Running or violent exercise can work too. I think these things are related.

At this point , you may or my not need any more help but something that has always help me is to put Ice/hot on my neck, side of face (carefull do not get in to eye) and shoulder area. It seams to help some

I don't know how long your cycles normally run, but you may want to consider a preventative medicine. I know you don't have insurance, so maybe the doc can give you enough samples to get your through your cycle or try a med that is not too expensive. Click on the OUCH button on the left, then click on CLUSTER HELP, then click on MEDICATIONS. Read the info, but print and take to the doc. The oxygen button on the left..read that info too if you haven't already, print up also. That may be the way to go for a less expensive alternative. Of course if you have not been diagnosed with clusters, you need to see a doc to rule out anything else serious (like a tumor or something). Good luck and keep us updated.
