I am a 23 year old male from Philadelphia, who just had yet another cluster headache. It ended 5 mins ago, this one lasted about 45 mins....the one last night about 2 hours. I passed out numberous times during these attacks including once at work last year and last night and about an hour ago... I act like a raging lunitic when these headaches occur, last night i ripped my bed apart, punched through my bedroom door and became a monster while my helpless grandmother watches...I vomitted last night, this was a first for me while having these headaches for about 3 years....before last night I can say it has been almost a year for me....nothing helps except for the time i was in the ER and they gave me oxygen....WHAT DO I DO...WHAT HELPS...I have tried ice, laying a certain way, rubbing my temples and nothing...I was hot one sec and cold another sec last night in a matter of mins. I am scared what the hell do I do, and most important I am scared the hell out of my grandmother......PLEASE REPLY WITH ADVICE AND HELP AND TREATMENT

THE MEDICINE GIVEN TO ME WAS A SAMPLE CALLED FROVA....IT DID NOT WORK AT ALL....I JUST HAD EXCEDRIN MIGRANE THIS ONE LASTED 45 MINS????

Jonathan, Sorry you are getting hit now. Oxygen works for lots of us, its safe and cheap too. Also imitrex injections work very well too. I gotta agree with the rest if the O-two works, you always go with what works! Finding something that does isn't that easy.

Second thing Philly's a big town there has to be a CH savy Doc or two around find one and never let him or her go.

Third, and this one's the hardest, tearing down the house WON'T do much for ya but scare the hell outta Grandma, make a mess and probably make your head hurt worse! Some folks here may disagree, with me here, and this might not work for you but, it got me through some tough times.

The beast is a VASCULAR related headache, high activity pumps more blood quicker and elevates pressures that are already way too high. In a good attack my vein in my temple approaches the size of a #2 pencil, I don't need more pressure, niether do you!! It took me about 6-7 years to master it, but I can sit and "think" my way through the worst of an attack. I used to pace, bang, claw, it did nada for me. Slowing it down, staying as calm as I can, doing everything I can to keep the anxiety low helps a bunch!! It's tough, d@mn tough, but it does work. The most important thing to remember is it WILL end, and when it does it'll feel d@mn good!

Now, go find the O-two, and that Doc....!

I sent you an email. Come meet us at the kickoff meeting for the PA-NJ Chapter. You will get to meet many more like you (ClusterHeads) and get different input on what to do,

For the sounds of it, you might have already gone through what I like to call "the peak". In every cycle I get one MONSTER CH, one that lasts 2-3 hours, where nothing works, just time.
From then on its downhill 'till you're pain free. Hang in there and inform yourself as much as you can. By being informed, you won't get as scared (enraged) and therefore your grandma won't be scared either...just a thought.

off course try to get o2 to cut off attacks. Besides that contact your dr for a preventive and a neurologist appointment. Educate yourself as much as you can, read all the info on the buttons to the left and check out this link too:

Hi Jon, welcome to the family! Sorry you need to be here, but glad you found us. There's tons of information around about different kinds of meds we all take.

Definitely get your doctor to get you O2! It's cheap, mostly effective, and the least harmful on you. I take Imitrex to get rid of the pain. I've also got some O2, but I haven't had the fortune ::) to use it yet. You might want to talk to your dr about a preventative too. Most take verapamil, some use prednisone. There's other ones out there.

Definitely try and make it to the PA-NJ meeting, you'll get to meet other CHers - and from what I hear, it's a great experience (this will be *my* first one if school work permits :) )
