Title: Hi 2 u all, new member here
Post by pleasssure on Sep 6th, 2003, 4:24pm
;) Hi to u all,
Well i awoke this morning at 6.30am with that feeling that i so much hate and dread.
I am 38yrs old and have suffered from CH since i was 18, my last cycle was 2 yrs ago which lasted 4 weeks. So when i woke this morning with that pain all i could do was climb into my sons bed and cry......i wasnt crying because of the pain, as my first one is always so mild, but i was crying at the thought that i may have to suffered for the next 3-4 weeks with this monster inside my head. The thought of waking every morning in pain is enough to give me a headache.
I have always had them on the right side of my face just above the eye, my eye swells, tears roll, neck aches and i scream, cry, rock, hold my head........and swear!! all this infront of my two boys who are 12 and 8. My eldest son is use to it, as he has grown up seeing his mother in such pain....however he feels helpless as what to do....but he is my comfort while i paste the house in intense pain.
I dread going to bed 2nite, as i am scared of waking in the morning to be faced with another more intense CH. They last for 20min-1.5hrs and by the time they have finished all i do is sleep, and when i wake i feel like i have done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson.....sore and bruised.
Anyway thanks for being there, its good to know others understand
XX
Pleasssure

Hi P,
Glad you found CH.com
There is alot of great info here to help you fight the beast. Click on the oxygen button on the left. That will tell you about using o2 and how to use it properly.

I know exactly how you feel, even though they start off mild, it's like a shock, like the beginning of a 6 week or longer nightmare. I actually go into denial for about one week and then realize I have to admit it's happening and fight. Well, know that you are not alone. You will get alot of support from here.

PFDAN to you..

Welcome aboard and I'm sorry you had reason to find us. Now that you have, you'll have the opportunity to meet us and read some of the many ways you can deal with this horror. You've found a place where there everyone knows exactly what this is like and how it can affect your life.

Here are two links: One for a technique I found effective and a second link to a description of this disease which does a wonderful job explaining to employers and others that this has nothing to with what is thought of as a “headache.”

Stick around and let us know how things are going.

Welcome to the family.  I understand not wanting to go to sleep due to the fear of waking up in pain.

We will be able to provide more info, help, etc, if you tell us what preventatives you are taking, meds you've tried, and such.

I hope you also read the medications & treatments posts.  You will find a wealth of information and support here.

Wishing you Pain Free Days and Nights,
Kate

good that methysergide works for you but watch uot with it, it is quite heavy on your system, just be careful!

have you tried verapamil? it's better tolerated...

Hi and welcome.

Sadly, your story is all to familiar with us here.

Look around this board.  You're sure to find alot of answers and maybe some help with your treatment.  There are alot of good ideas on this board, not just were meds are concerned, but of the home remedy variety as well.

Good luck and wishing you all PFDAN always, Linda T
