I'd say I've had two ordinary headaches this year which is probably about average.

Yer right. It is an interesting question.

Out of cycle I get them pretty often, I'd say at least 1 a week.

One or two per week here (I think because I spend my workdays staring at a computer screen).

If I had a "normal" HA, I probably wouldn't even notice it...that is like a PF moment to me.  I honestly do not recall what a "normal" HA feels like anymore.

I didn't normally get headaches between cycles, except after this last cycle Feb 2002. Since it ended in May 2002, I have had headaches to the point that its gotten really annoying. Still nothing like having an actual cluster HA though. I just don't know what changed. Plus I also have had for the last few months (and it just ended a week ago) what felt like a cycle without the actual pain. I posted about that a couple weeks back or so looking to see if others had that experience. A first for me, that I can recall anyway.

Before I ever got clusters I was a "headachy kind of person". Apart from the occasional migraines I got at least 1 or 2 a week.

Now I rarely get them. And it is even rarer (more rare?) to take anything for them if I do.

Interesting!

I used to get at least one migraine a month. Since developing CH, I have hardly had any, and those I have had were at the beginning of a CH cycle so may have been CH shadows. I put this down to some useful side effect from the Imigran use. I get headaches from alcohol use more frequently now though (that could be age!)

Hold the front page- CH cures migraines! ;D

I usually get many, many headaches between cycles. Tension HA's, Migraine, Hangover HAs on occasion  :P and just plain old HA's. These usually react well to OTC painkillers and Tiger Balm. This has been the pattern of my whole life. In the past year I have discovered that if I stay off wheat products I rarely get a HA, but if I go back to eating wheat (it's really hard to give up!) I start to get a few HA's after a month or so.

These all pale into insignificance compared with a cluster cycle which is totally debilitating, and life and work becomes almost impossible without Imigran injections.

I only get Migraines between cycles. They are annoying at their worst! Never worse than a 5kip! I can always sleep with my migraines though.

I got tons of sinus headaches before getting hit with the clusters.  For some reason the sinus headaches have stopped completely since I had my first cycle.  I ain't complaining ... they were annoying and uncofortable ...... but now they are gone !!!!!!!!!!

I get regular headaches when i get too hot and haven't had enough water. I take an aspirin and it goes away...no big.

The worst thing about it is that nagging fear - will this start a cycle? That's more bothersome than the headache.

Oh Lawdy, I must be de Queen of Headaches!

I've always had tension headaches, smoking headaches, TMJ  and heat exhaustion headaches, prolly 3-4 times per week.

Got my first cluster in 1967.

Added occipital migraines (especially from heat exhaustion) in the '90s, and topped it all off 2 years ago with classical migraines (usually in the spring from allergies).

My unscientific, cockeyed theory is that there are 2 (10 for Kirk) types of people in the world--those who express their stress through headaches, and those who express their stress through their stomaches.  So, the good news, I guess, is that I've never had ulcers or any stomach problems other than occasional heartburn.

This might be more detail than you aked for, but I COULD add more, you know.   ;)

I'm with One Eye Blind on this.  I used to get sinus and allergy headaches from anything that grows and produces pollen, but since going chronic 18 mos ago I have not had the first one.  not even a stopped up nose!

Hold the front page again!  CH also cures allergies! ;D

Interesting post.

I have daily sinus pain, weekly migraines, I used to get tension ha but they are gone.  The worst migraine I ever have is a 5 but after 6 hours it is hard to keep going. Since my CH went from kip 5 max to kip 10's I don't take pain meds as much, it doesn't seem worth it.

Nutin from nutin is nutin, although 50% of us seem to have other headaches 50% don't, thanks to not-4s entry. It is odd, could be the same in the general population.

I'm with Linda H... WTF is a "normal" headache?  If you're talkin' about tension type headaches, even those aren't normal for me... I think the official diagnosis is "chronic daily tension type headaches" or some shit like that... I call it 14 years of continuous, annoying, pulsating pressure and pain... At least when I'm in cycle, I don't give a damn about it, but then again... For some reason, I don't like bein' in cycle either... Go figure 'eh?  C'est la vie...  ;D
