Title: Off to the neurologist...
Post by 5-string on Sep 3rd, 2003, 8:26am
I just wanted to thank D.J. and everyone for creating this sight and being here for people like me. This is a treasure of info and support.
After waiting 3 1/2 weeks for my appt. it's finally here.yeay!
On my way out the door... my printer has over heated.
After 4 years of clusters, this is my first neuro appt. When my doctor first diagnosed me with clusters 2 years ago thats all he said, gave me some happy pills and sent me home. He is a good doctor who cares though. No one had heard of such a thing.questions like" Is that some kind of migraine or something?"
I'd say" I guess so." But thanks to all of you I know excactly what the are. Unfortunatly..
Sooo. I'm off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of aahhh!
 Y'all are the best!
 Mark.

I just got back from the neuro. she was great. She knew excactly what it was without me suggesting anything.
She asked if I had any experience with oxygen. I said no,and she wrote a prescription/auth. for the use of that. Wrote one for Imetrex nasel spray and one for a low dose Veripamal. She wants me to pay close attention to that because of side effects. And sceduled me for an M.R.A.
She really knows her stuff about cluster headaches. She knows how rare they are and how to treat them without a flinch. And wants me to stay in touch with her.
Although this is by no means a cure, it's incouraging(to say the least) that I don't feal alone with this in a doctors office. Know what I mean?
And for the record, she did say that she firmly believes smoking is a contributing factor. I know that doctors will say anything to get you to quit, but I thought I'd throw that in there.

  seeya,
 Mark.

Awesome, Mark!

Glad to hear you've got a DR that knows what she's talking about.

As for the smoking factor, I don't know since I've never done that - but from what I've seen, lots of people here do, so maybe I'm the freaky one   ;)

Glad to hear you have a Doc that seems to know alittle about CH and is giving you something other than tylonol (sp). Its amazing what some of these quacks try to do.

Anyway, hoping the combination she scribes for you works and you get some relief.
