Title: Prayers needed Post by OneEyeBlind on Sep 2nd, 2003, 10:20pm Just got a phone call from my sister. Her 16 year old son, Christopher, has a brain tumor. He's a cancer survivor. At 6 years old he had a Ewings tumor that resulted in the loss of one leg. He amazed me then with his resiliency. I'm sure he'll amaze me again. Prayers for my sister Maryann, her family, and most of all for Christopher would be appreciated. |

They are transferring Christopher to Hershey Medical Center (a hospital with a great cancer staff). It's a 1 inch tumor on the frontal lobe. That's all I know for now. I'll get to see him in the morning and get to talk to my sis. He is one fantastic kid .. and like my husband says ........ if anyone can kick ass ... he can. Keep the prayers coming. Clusterheads do great prayers !!!!! |

Title: Re: Prayers needed Post by OneEyeBlind on Sep 3rd, 2003, 5:08pm Well, things are not looking too good. They have found tumors in his liver, lungs ...... it is everywhere. The good news would be that Ewings Sarcoma (which is the type of cancer he had before) would not spread this far and wide. They are hoping for a type of lymphoma that is much easier to treat. Not good news no matter how you slice it though. They are going to try and do a biopsy without opening him up ... using a needle to try to determine the type of cancer. Then they'll put their heads together and decide what to do next. In the meantime ........... keep praying. Thanks guys !!!!! |

My isster is a trooper and doing great, her son is my hero and doing even better. We are still waiting for news of some type. Some of the tests that they had planned have been cancelled. He was suppose to have a bone marrow test, a spinal tap, and a biopsy on the spot in his lung which is fairly large. They need to figure out what type of cancer it is. They have scrapped doing the spinal tap because with the brain swelling it is just too risky. They are going to do the bone marrow test. That will take a few days to get the results back. They feel that the cancer is not blood born but want to make sure of that before doing the biopsy. We won't know the results of the bone marrow test until Monday. So what we plan on doing is having a great bbq while the sun is shining this weekend and taking things as they come. Thank you all for your prayers. Our goal as a family is to get as many people praying for Chris as possible. Cause with prayer ......... anything is possible. Chris is already living proof of that. |

That's good news. We had a really nice prayer vigil for Christopher at his church last night. The members of my family that could attend were there, the rest did the "long distance" prayer vigil. Lots of church friends also attended. It was really nice for my sis (and Chris) to know that each of her siblings were sitting with her or not too far away praying. They were doing a biopsy today. That will give us a better idea of what we are dealing with. The rest of my family is due in town tomorrow. Not sure how long this vigil will take, but together with God's help we can accomplish anything. I wanted to thank you guys for your prayers. Having a second family to lean on has meant a lot over the last few days. Keep those prayers coming, the power of prayer is something that constantly amazes me. |

There is one site thats called chemo angels. You go to www.chemoangels.com Sign him up. There is all kinds of things on the internet to help kids from 1 to 18 years of age. Just put what you are looking for in search. There is just all kind of help out there. The whole family is getting a lot of prayers here :)! The prayers here work :-) I am praying. |

When you take a child by the hand you might feel that you are the protector, but it may be that you are also the one who is receiving, because when you look into the eyes of a child living with illness you often see not just their beauty, but also a glimpse of what really matters in life - trust, security, love, faith and hope.
