Title: Can I join this party...
Post by Teach on Sep 1st, 2003, 9:21pm
hello all....just want you all to know that you are responsible for my "lost" Labor Day weekend which was spent reading as many old posts as I could so I could somehow try to get to know everyone at least a little...didnt know there was a place where I could share with others who do battle...I am 58 years old and have been a CH for about 23 years...I am not chronic...I have attacks that last about 7 to 8 weeks every year or so...when I was younger they would come more often...I use Imitrex like many here and I thank God for this drug...I can remember the days of going through a cycle without  it, and looking back, don't know how I did it without cracking my head open against the shower wall...I hope I can help support others here and make a contribution....just one question...it seems there are many chronic CH'ers here...is that because more CH'ers are chronic?...or because episodic people do not visit the site between cycles...just wondering....anyway, I hope I can get to know you better as I feel that we are all connected in a way that others cannot possibly understand....Teach

Oh sure blame it on the clusterheads. We get blamed for everything from holes in the wall to broken furniture to causing public distrubances in ER's  ;)

I know exactly what you mean and I hope I never have to go through it again med free...not even sure if I could anymore.

What area are you in? You should really try and meet someone in person, you won't regret it.
And again, WELCOME HOME!

Jim

Thanks for saying hello, Teach!

I don't think the majority of all CH sufferer's are chronic.  The 'experts' tell us that about 10% will fall in this category.  I think you might see more than the average percentage here because being chronic will drive you to search out help, and this is an easy place to find if you know what you are looking for.  Just a guess though.

Welcome to the family!

Welcome Teach..........

Back in the good old days (tongue in cheek) the only thing available for my "histamine headaches" was Sansert, but I refused to take it, so  I went 28 years without meds.

Suffering a malady without a name, you tend to believe you are the only one who has it and you resign yourself to live with it.  I don't even like to think about my own ch experiences.  I just know that I am one of the lucky few who has outgrown them.....and so has our pal here in Clusterville by the name of Charlie.

The connection that you talk about intensifies when you meet a clusterhead in person.

We are having a get-together in southwest Florida in October.......do you live near enough to join us?

Welcome Teach .... Sorry you had to look for us, but glad you found us  :)

As you saw over the past weekend, this place has plenty of information and ALOT to read! And the people ..... well .... it's home to many of us. I am not a CHer but a supporter of one and without this place, I would still be lost as to what was/is going on with my man.

Wishing PFDaN to all!

Hi Teach and welcome.

I think that your theory that more chronics are on this board than episodics because us episodics tend to disappear when not in cycle is probably true.  After a particularly long and miserable cycle last year (plus some intervening life events) I was off the board for awhile.  I seemed to need a ch break.  (I'm happy to report that I'm still not in cycle!)  In any event, even though I wasn't posting for awhile these people remain in my blood.  I think about all of them everyday.  Once you come in here it's really hard to cut yourself off (and you really won't want to anyway).

We have imitrex and hot showers in common.  Together with these guys here, it saved my life.

Good luck and welcome again.  Wishing you all PFDAN always, Linda T

Ah shit phooey!   Do we have to watch oru our language new now, and do we need to check in the dictionary to make sure our selling spalling spailing spelling is correct?

Do we get estra extra points for neatness?

Welcome aboard and grab your oar and start rowing!  If you don't, Cootie will whack your peepee!

By the way, the fucking dog DID eat my homework!

Welcome to our ward, Teach. I'm sorry it was necessary for you to find our madhouse but even though a lot of us are around the bend, you'll find many good ideas and ways to deal with this horror.

I just turned 57 and have been free of clusters for 12 years. I began in 1969 and it lasted 22 years. I was always episodic and hadn't heard of other variations until I found this site.

Here are two links: One for a technique I found effective and a second link to a description of this disease which does a wonderful job explaining to others that this has nothing to with what is thought of as a “headache.”

Hey, thanks Charlie, I find something new here everyday. this is very cool indeed. I'll print the second page out and take it to work to show my work mates and,of course, boss. Somehow it has more of an impact when someone else is trying to convey whats going on.

And, welcome to the sight Teach...you're not alone here.
 good night,
 Mark

Teach-
I feel I must explain- the only reason Cathy(aka Miss Fluffyknickers) is the brightest is, well, the other day, she swallowed a light bulb! Dimbulb!! :P

Welcome, Teach... you'll find that many here do NOT need remediation when it comes to cluster info.....after you read all the buttons to he left, feel free to ask questions......so sorry you need this site....so glad you have found it....welcome, and get comfy....rowing lessons are first thing in the morning...someone will be along to get you.
BE PF!

just one question...it seems there are many chronic CH'ers here...is that because more CH'ers are chronic?...

I think you were right with your assumption that episodic suffers, are also episodic users of this site. I, like many others, use the support of these wonderful people, just like another med, to get us through the hard times.

Hey Teach,

Welcome to your new classroom ;D  Maybe you can do sumpin wiff us ::) :D

About a year and a half ago I stumbled through the door in the midst of a cycle - FINALLY I had found the support, understanding and humor (and occasional ass-whoopin ;D) that I had so desperately searched for for over 25 years.  I am forever indebted to the fine folks here who give of themselves over and over, and put out a hand to help others.

Well wishes***
