Post by hopefull on Aug 29th, 2003, 10:12pm
today the neuro added Frova to the mix...even thought Imetrix and Zomig didn't work ...and anything he's given me for pain hasn't worked he wanted to try the "New" med  on the market ...any one else used it?

I am not 100% sure, but I think that is what the doc just prescribed for me that medicaid won't cover. The name sounds like it...just couldn't remember it.

Your Doctor is talking a crock of shit. Frova is not new. It has been around for a few years.

If you check the medications and treatments page (which is where this question should go really) someone there is posting about Frova, and also type Frova into the search archives section (look above here for the link) you'll find the detail about people's experiences with Frova but:

It is another triptan similar to Zomig SO YOU MUST NOT TAKE IT WITH IMITREX/GRAN OR ZOMIG or any other triptan

It is a migraine treatment (called Migard over here)

It seems to do little good for most of the Ch sufferers who have tried it, but it may work for you of course.

It has caused ADDITIONAL headaches for some sufferers

It has worked as a short term preventive for a few people who took it before bed (there have been similar comments about Zomig taken in this way)

Hope this helps J

I am shocked to see there is someone else whom Imitrex doesn't work for. I thought/felt like I was the only one it wouldn't work on. What is peculiar though is that Zomig, a different triptan, worked 50/50 for me for awhile, and it';s like the beast mutated, grinned and bit me back.
And insomnia...I am online when I have rehearsal in the morning, and recording tracks later today. Got a full day, a full head of pressure. I'll be up all night, work all day - get hit oince or twice and just have to ride them out. Relpax only worked a couple of times, then failed everytime thereafter. Ya know, I get so desperate sometimes that if some numbnutz nimrod said it worked, I might try eating yellow snow. Okay, not really THAT desperate, or am I? What the fuck would you do for a  Klondike bar?

Peace & PFD&Ns,
Carl D
