Title: ClusterHead Productions Post by SommelierCH on Aug 22nd, 2003, 5:51am I have sincerely promised this family (and specifically DJ), that during my 22 months pain free (I have 14 left), I will strive to make a difference, I will strive to get our word out. I just didn’t know how. This is my new plan. My “Wine and Food Adventure” television show has been picked up by a television producer. His agent, Jack Nicholson’s agent for 30 years (and probably my agent, hey come on, 10% is 10%), said that it was a “done deal”, IF I can get 3 wineries, or one major winery, to commit to buying advertising on the show. Robert Mondavi’s grandson was in tonight and committed their support. Done Deal. I get to have my own production company. I am going to call it ClusterHead Productions. I hope that everyone will ask what that means. On the sign-off, when ClusterHead Productions flashes on the screen, I want to add www.clusterhead.org, underneath (unless there are objections). I also pledge to have the show donate a percentage of the profits to a charity, non-profit organization dedicated to easing the suffering of Clusterheads. If you know of one let me know. Most people in this town would say that I am jinxing this whole thing, because nothing has been signed, so you can’t mention it. I say, “I’M A FUCKING CLUSTERHEAD, BRING IT ON!!!!” I am attaching my letter to the wineries so you all can get a grasp of what I am trying to do. The show is much bigger than this segment. Peace, PFDAN, and let’s all keep rowing, David J. This show is designed to make money for everyone involved, especially the wineries that choose to participate as advertisers. The “Wine of the Week” will be purchased by the viewing audience and they will open it at home, while I open and talk about it, on-air. Only good wines will be featured on the show. There will be no “thumbs down” reviews. Hence, no confusion for the viewing public; i.e. If you remember a wine featured on the show, you can be assured that it was a “thumbs up”. We will also take a video tour of the winery featured for the show; and after it airs, have it available in our website archives forever (along with maps of the region, wine makers notes, recipes for food pairings, etc). We must make good wine, user friendly. This show will change the way that wineries are able to reach the consumer. It will also change the way Americans perceive wine (an everyday, healthful beverage), and will open up, un-tapped market segments for increased wine sales. This show, is geared towards the younger generations, giving them much needed wine education (while laughing their asses off), and will lay the foundation for them to participate in the joy of wine, for years to come. Thus, ensuring the successful longevity of our wine passion in this country. In order for the wine culture to grow and flourish, in the United States, we must reach out to untapped markets, the “white middle-aged male” segment is somewhat saturated (duh). We need to reach out to: the younger generation (25-35), women (women buy 56% of the wine in the U.S.), African-Americans, Latinos and Asians (I work in a Euro-Asian, multi-cultural restaurant). We must expand our base. All of these people, are the people I meet every night, as guests, at Crustacean. I talk to hundreds of guests every week. They want to know more about wine, they constantly ask me if I’m teaching a wine class anywhere, they have the money, but no one is reaching out to help them learn. I will do that. You can only understand the wine if you drink it. I will put the featured “Wine of the Week” in their hands, at home and help them to understand what they are tasting. I want them to understand their own palettes. When you add this segment of the market, to the regular wine drinkers, who wished they knew more, you end up with an educated, socially adept target audience, encompassing many cultures, that many advertisers (besides the wineries) will be begging for. My friends, it costs you nothing to fill out this letter of intent; but if you do fill it out, you will enable me to realize my dream, a television show that can bring wine to the masses. I kid you not, if ten of you fill out this letter of intent, then, this show will happen. All of you receiving this letter know me, or know of me. You know of my passion. It is the same passion you have. I promise not to let you down. Please fill out this letter of intent. Thank you, David Jones Sommelier of the Year, CRWA Sommelier, Crustacean Beverly Hills SAG |

Title: Re: ClusterHead Productions Post by SommelierCH on Aug 24th, 2003, 1:40pm How cool, I’m a ClusterHead, I wear my pain with pride. Can we get a group hug? Uh…me in the middle, then a layer of Cluster/Supporter babes, and the guys at the other end zone. I have pissed off everyone of you, at one time or another. But we are still here. I love you all so much. UPDATE: I am in over my fucking head, with this show. If there is a ClusterBuddy who is a lawyer, that can read a contract, and wouldn’t mind looking over a couple of things, would you please get in touch with me? I am getting dizzy, trying to figure out who to trust in this town. All of a sudden after 6 years of trying to pitch my idea, they are converging on me. Fuck, I was a Theatre Major, never took a single business class, now I’m paying for it (let that be a lesson for all you young ClusterHeads, give up ballet, do economics). This is not to downplay the joy of having a double-jointed dancer doing the Chinese Splits on your face!!!!! In honor of DJ, I promise, I will never give up trying to get the word out, David J. |

Title: Re: ClusterHead Productions Post by miCHel on Aug 25th, 2003, 4:15pm Hey David! What a cool project! Because of my work, I see numerous projects for new TV shows... Unfortunately, not many of them ever get to see the light of day because it's often hard to find advertisers to back the whole thing. But your show is definitely on the right track! Using a vehicle like that to generate awareness for CH is simply awesome... Tell Mr. Mondavi III that I am off to purchase a few bottles of his great product as we speak... We're all behind you! miCHel |
