Title: Headaches
Post by LVTURTLES on Aug 17th, 2003, 10:05am
I have had the following symptoms for over a month:
extreme pain and pressure behind both eyes
ears seem always plugged
disoriented
no energy
muscle weakness

my dr seems to think it is cluster headaches and prescribed depakote - i had an mri last friday and will have an eeg next thursday.  can cluster headaches make you feel like you are so dislocated from your body?  Oh by the way, if my mri comes back with a problem will the dr call right away or wait to tell me my results at our scheduled appt?  thanks for any input - this is scaring the heck out of me.

It's pretty much a general concensus that CH is unilateral.  That sounds like a HA associated with sinus issues which is not a primary HA I don't think.  If that is the case, you would have to treat the sinus issues and not so much the HA.  I could be wrong, but that is the way I understand it.

Will the MRI show that it is a sinus problem rather than a CH?  I also seem to have alot of jaw tightening with the headaches.

Hi LVTURTLES.  You may want to take the 'cluster quiz' on the left side of this page.  An MRI will not be able to tell you if you have cluster headaches, it is only able to rule out other problems.

You don't  have the classic symptoms of cluster headaches.  The cluster quiz will be a great help to you.

If the doc sees something wrong in the MRI, he will probably call you and set a closer appointment date, unless you have one in the next day or two.

I'm wishing that you have something simple and that it will clear up soon.

Good luck.
Donna
