Title: Nice visit with my new Neuro yesterday! Post by Patrick_A on Aug 14th, 2003, 9:57am Went to my new Neuro yesterday. He is kind of abrupt and a bit on the stiff side. Cut me off on several occasions, but after our 1 hour meeting, i walked out with a good deal of respect for him. He told me he had been treating clusters for about 20 years. He also told me he was amazed at how they all seem to come crawling out of the woods in the same timeperiods. He said he'll go months not seeing a C-head, and then boom, he will see 25 in 2 weeks. Makes ya kind of wonder about that. He put me on 480mg of Verapamil and 3 prednisones a day. My only disappointment was he told me that he has never had any success with oxygen given to his patients. He said the success rate was too low for him to do it. I know he was a bit close minded on this subject, he wouldnt even look at the info i had typed up for him on O2. I was a bit perturbed at this point in our meeting because i thought it was a viable solution. But then he threw some compassion at me that kind of left me feeling i was where i needed to be. He asked me how long i have been in cycle, and i told him approx. 6 weeks. He asked why i had waited so long, and i proceeded to inform him of my previous Neuro and the problems i had. Dr Z told me that he had great compassion for CH sufferers, he proceeded to tell me in his 20 years of handling CH patients that he had 5 suicides, and that everyone of them left him with a empty feeling. He said he always would get me whatever meds i needed including the O2 if i wanted it. He told me to call him 24 hous a day if i had an emergency and he would get me what i needed. Even though he and I clashed a little bit. I realized he was just like me. He tells it like he sees it, and he dont mince words. I walked out of his office yesterday feeling like i had finally found a home. The Doctors name is Doctor Sam Zimmerman, he is located in Greenville, SC. I am hoping for some PFDAN's soon, Patrick |

As for the O2 thing not to worry hun go to the welding place and rent your own tank. Talk to leading O2 guru Jonny about what things you need to use the tank etc. Here is hoping that you have great success with your new meds. Thank god for docs that listen!! Take care of YOU and PF times ahead for ya! Leesa ;D |
