Title: Re: i'am tired of it too Post by Patrick_A on Aug 10th, 2003, 9:03am Wow Bill, I can surely relate! I am sorry to say this, but your wife needs to get a clue. I can understand my co-workers being a bit ignorant. But my family has seen me at my worst CH's and they never make comments that i would deem insensitive. In fact my Dad has been in remission for CH for about 30 years so he totally understands! Good luck, Patrick |

I believe recently there was a guy that pretty much hacked his own arm off with a pocket knife (to free himself) after a rock fell on him. Describe it that way, only the pain is in your head/eye. :P The guy was lucky in one respect though, his arm was already numb, and he only had to go through it ONCE! Man, I still can't believe someone could actually do that. Seriously, I would suggest having your wife come to this site and poke around...maybe then she might have a better understanding of what you are dealing with. That is extremely important in my opinion. Support from friends and family is everything! Best wishes! Chris |

Title: Re: i'am tired of it too Post by Opus on Aug 10th, 2003, 7:49pm Bill, Yes we understand, I gave up on the wife ever understanding, I just hide when I get hit at home if I can. Work is tough too especially if you haven't made yourself indispensable. Stick around, grab an oar and help us row to a cure. Paul |

Title: Re: i'am tired of it too Post by CathiP on Aug 10th, 2003, 8:06pm Cathy's right, Bill-you should not have to deal with this alone.....drag your wife, kicking & screaming if you must, to read some of what is here....like what Chris has written- the analogy is good....really good! I am glad you have spoken up....you are among friends. BE PF, Bill- and jump in....the water's fine!! Cathi |

Here is Simon's letter on this subject that so many have copied and used just for this purpose. It's really worth the effort. http://www.ouch-uk.org/ch/note_colleagues.cfm Good luck and stick around Bill. Charlie |

Title: Re: i'am tired of it too Post by AlienSpaceBabe on Aug 11th, 2003, 11:12am CH sucks, don't it? My brother was in town for the weekend. I got hit repeatedly on Saturday.... he found me and tried rubbing my head. Without ripping his arm out (surprisingly), I moved his hands away and put his thumb at that one spot at the base of the skull, then pointed HARD in front of me. He got it... tried to push that damn thumb straight through my skull - it was perfect! Ripped my daughter's head off as I dove for the bathtub to douse my head in cold, cold water. My point? After the first time each person saw me getting hit, I told them what I need and what not to do: Don't touch me. Don't try to make me stop rocking. Ice is heaven. A shot of imitrex - let me do it unless i point at it then my arm... Keep people away - I'm not a circus attraction. If I pull over on the expressway and a sheriff needs to help, get me oxygen, mask with bag, 12 to 15 liters per minute. Hope this helps, Lizzie |
