Title: Re: So Where's Everyone From???? Post by Gofishgriff on Aug 9th, 2003, 4:39pm Central Florida. The Orlando area. Oviedo to be exact. I was born in Florida and grew up here. The summers can bring some unbearable heat, but ah, those magnificent winters. Jan/Feb can get cold for a few days (30's), but most of the winter finds the tempatures climbing up to the high 70's during the day. Did I mention this is the one place you can golf all year long? Central Florida is loaded with tourists, the orange groves are being replaced with subdivisions, and we have those pesky alligators here, but hey, this is still home. Good thread River Rat. I'm PF as well and glad to see you sticking around. |

Title: Re: So Where's Everyone From???? Post by Charlie on Aug 9th, 2003, 9:58pm Okay: I live in Jamestown, New York where we are having the Lucy Festival. Lots of people come here to buy Lucy and Desi lunch boxes, plastic stuff with her image and other goodies. You can even buy books by Vivian Vance. I kid you not. Anyway, I'm more than 300 miles west of Kim and the big city. Nearly 500, if you take the Thruway. Jamestown is 30 miles east of Lake Erie, and 75 miles south of Buffalo so I mow my lawn in August and shovel snow all winter. Nothing has ever happened here. Charlie |

Title: Re: So Where's Everyone From???? Post by Carla_Comiter on Aug 9th, 2003, 10:32pm ??? Oh God, I feel another ramble coming on. For those who just want to cut to the chase, I live in Raytown, MO. For those who are spending the night playing solataire or moonbathing (did you SEE that moon?), read on... Well, I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I bought my first house in the upper-crust, cosmopolitan suburb of Kansas City, MO, called Raytown. Actually, Raytown is much like it sounds--unknown and invisible. The reputation it has in the metro area includes pick up trucks and chawing tabacky. But I love it. It's 30,000 people in 10 square miles, will never grow beyond those 10 square miles because it is hemmed in by Independence and KC. Everything I need is five minutes from my house. There are no lines and the people are so nice it brings tears to my eyes. I was born in Illinois and moved to Orlando in 1979. In 1998 I moved to MO to go to school. I always swore that after graduation I was going to find a job somewhere with mountains. They say if you want to make God laugh, just tell Her your plans. OK, I'm stopping now. There's more I could say, but I'm showing a wee bit of self-restraint. Must be because I got to sleep before 4AM this morning and had a PF day--my 3rd in 4 weeks. PFNAD |

Title: Re: So Where's Everyone From???? Post by Donna on Aug 10th, 2003, 12:04am I grew up in the best location in the nation...Cleveland, Ohio, or I should say, a southern suburb of Cleve. We lived on the edge of a cliff (130 ft. drop into a creek) in a little town of about 10 houses and a town hall. Used to play Annie Oakley with my good old Daisey BB gun, riding my pretend horse through the woods and panning for gold in the creek. If anyone ever digs up my old front yard, they will find a gazillion glass jars filled with fools gold buried all over the place. Someday I'll tell you the story about the day my younger sis fell over the edge and landed face down in the creek. Not a broken bone.......just hamburger cheeks, elbows , knees and butt. Then, moved to Englewood, Fla in 1984 after being laid off for the third time and having to sell our house. Mom lived here in Fla. and I came down to visit, fell in love with the ocean and tropic atmosphere, biggest birds I ever saw in my life, etc. It was a good move. |

Hubby and I went on a road trip 5 yrs ago when we got married. We stayed in his home town in West Virginia with his father for a month, then got married on a mountian top in Virginia (just the 2 of us) then traveled across the country and ended up in Tulsa Ok for amonth and I LOVED it there...but my family needed us back home here in NH so here we still are, we were gone about 3 months and had planned to settle down somewhere other than here ( i liked tulsa and hubby like virginia) but we are content here (for now lol) Ok thats my story :) |

Title: Re: So Where's Everyone From???? Post by maggie_may on Aug 11th, 2003, 8:30am I'm from New Jersey - Roselle to be exact. It's a town right next to Elizabeth, about 20 minutes south of Newark. I lived there for my whole life - 24 years - until 1.5 yrs ago. It's a boring town with not much to do there, and all the good people who lived there moved out a long time ago. On the other side of that town where my friend lives, across the street from her, they busted a crack house with over $4 mill in various illegal stuff there. LOVELY! I feel bad for my parents who still live there. I now live in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. For those in the know, it's exit 63 on Rt. 80 or exit 155 on the Parkway. I'm now 10 minutes west of the George Washington Bridge. It's a much nicer town than Roselle. There still isn't anything to do there, but I can deal. When my BF and I finally get married - whenever that will be, when he gets off his lazy azz and finally asks ;) - we'll be moving to Wayne, NJ. Good town to raise a family in. maggie |
