Ok. I know this is a touchy subject for a few of you, if it is, ignore it. Is there anybody in our cluster family who is a daily pot smoker? Will you admit it? I'm trying to figure out the link between CH and certain types of pot. If anybody is interested, or could help in anyway please e-mail me Digitalfilm@hotpop.com. I've been trying to figure this out for a long time now with no luck. Input is appreciated. Thanks,

Well, I am chronic and NEVER smoked it. Got the occasional 2nd hand from concerts and such. :P It's not touchy to me...if I smoked it, I would have simply said so.

Dave doesnt smoke pot.......... made him paranoid when he was in Highschool... said something about everyone looking at him... well everyone looks at him all the time anyway cuz he is so handsome.......... duh Dave??? glad he gave up the pot though got sick of him asking the ? why is everyone looking at me?????????

on a more serious side Dave is getting hit every 4 hours right now.........good vibes for Dave please and lots of prayers..........love you guys

I'm 38 and have smoked weed almost everyday from the age of 17 WOW! that's a lot of weed ;D.

I really cut down during my cycles, because I wasn't sure if they would trigger a ch or not, very inconsistant!

Sometimes I'd catch a buzz and get one sometimes I wouldn't.

BTW. I quit about 6 months ago and don't even miss it.

I smoked Pot everyday from the age of 14 to 28, and then quit. I am now 44 and still get headaches. No correlation that i can tell!

Not a pot smoker - makes me too paranoid! But do smoke cigs - not to change the subject, but does anyone see a big difference if you quit while in a cycle? I am about to have my second ha this am...UGH... ???

Started getting clusters when I was 14 years old. Few years before I started "basting" 8).

Still getting them at 38...14 years after basting my last herb. :'(

Whilst basting...I never noticed any correlation between Clusters & Herb.

There was a dude here awhile back that said he could only smoke certain strains of weed, thats all I remember on that.

Me?, Ive smoked every strain known to man and it never caused a HA, 13 yrs drug free and damn proud of it ;D

while out of cycle: smoked daily for 20+ yrs

while in cycle: RARELY smoke - almost always brings on a CH.

I smoked it on a weekend only basis for about 1.5 to 2 years...

I had ch before that though...

I'm with Ree and Dave. One time I went to a Hot Tuna Concert at Madison Square Garden. We had a pack of ciggs that was really rolled up joints? Anyhow, I left for the early train cuz thought the entire Madson Square Garden audience was "lookin at me" LOL! That was about 25 years ago. Not a fan of weed eva since then ;D Hey Ree - mebbe they were jes lookin at me cuz I was cute? LOL ......Hoping Dave is betta soon***

Yeah, Jonny I remember that post too. I think it's under Meds Section.....was a while ago....

IMHO not much of a correlation between the two*** Ya gonna get hit, ya gonna get hit***weed or no.

I smoked weed during high school and college but that was years before my CHs started. Q: Know what happens when the school police catch you smoking pot in the school parking lot? A: Takes five years to complete high school. ;D

Tried it a few times in the 60s. Don't think it has affected my CH since.

I never did any of the "in"things when they came around first time. Haven't ever done it after.

Yeah I smoked it all too. Have smoked everyday for months at a time and have taken breaks for months at a time. Its definatly not a trigger for me. Some grass seemed to help me get through an attack though (Malawi Cob and some junk stuff I got in the middle east). Duban Poison (good stuff) was not good to smoke while in cycle though as I tended to get really freaked out when the beast jumped me unawares and might even go as far as to say I panicked once or twice. Personnaly I dont think there is any connection between CH and Grass.

Dr. Stephen Ellis in San Francisco is involved in cannabis research and has some very interesting things to say about cannabis and migraine. They have proven, for example, that some cannabanoids act on the very same pain receptors as migraine, and can interrupt the pain signals.

Now, to the extent that migraines are/are not related to CH, I would guess it's possible that cannabis has *some* effect on CH, but I wouldn't guess as to whether it's a positive or negative effect.

As I have said many times before, it's not easy to determine if 'pot' is any kind of help since there are 1000's of strains with completely different chemical compositions. Add to that the different ways of consuming it and you have the most non-standardized method imaginable for medication delivery. That's no way to conduct research.

Most strains in the world are of the sativa family. Sativa tends to give me a headache, and worsen a migraine. Indica, which originated in Afghanistan, seems to work like magic on a migraine. During a CH, the last thing I want is to be stoned, so I’ve not even tried it.

as i said before, it usually triggers one for me.

that said, i have tried VERY SMALL amounts in the middle of the night - trying to abort a CH. First few times, it seemed to help me relax (just a little bit). Next time, it kinda redefined what a 10 is.

Me... I'm not willing to try that again (at least not until i'm really desparate)

i have smoked for 18 years,only weed for the last three,have had headaches forthe last three years daily.have often thought that hashish had some positiv effect but have always wondered about grass

can't beat the spliff after a 10 tho

Smoked for several years after finding the herbal means of vacationing from reality while in Nam. Truly thought that reefer helped to abort CH. Either that or I was so friggen out of it I didn't care.

I'm a supporter but used ta smoke when in high school on and didn't drink tho...my party getaway weekend 'deal' bad habit back then. After a while certain types started givein me BAD MIGRAINES....sum the shakes......and panic attacks. Could imagine how it could make a CH'r paroniod of the next hit tho considerin how it enhances moods and feelings and thoughts. I sure could rearrange a mean liveingroom back then ! Not around it so much now days.....esp with the effects I've ran into years back and crap is treated with who knows what these days ta give it a kick....scarey. Pam that started drinkin on weekends after I had the kid from the Exorcist movie

I had been very touch and go on my smoking this last cycle, because I thought there might be a correlation. Since then though I have discovered that the CHs usually hit around the times I get high.

For a little while I was getting them at around 10am and 8 pm or so...A couple hours after I smoked.

I did notice that it changes the way the pain feels when you are very stoned. I think that your blood pressure goes up a bit from capillary constriction and may add a small amopunt of throbbing to the CH attack...Other than that no effect.

I smoke every day and some days go without a HA and some days get three. It doesnt seem to cause or make them go away, though may change how they hurt while having them.

I wouldnt suggest trying anything from 8-kip up while high...it made me a little extra panicky when the Big One hit.

My birthday is 4/20. Need I say more?

My older brothers got me started smoking pot when I was 10 years old (also when I started smoking cigs).
There are periods of time i have quit smoking pot and other times when I was buried in it.
My Doc knows I smoke pot and aknowledges its medicinal purposes, as far as relaxing, etc.
When I was seeing the Chairman of the Headache Foundation at Washington U., he said it wasn't uncommon that some people use pot as a sedative/relaxer.

I can take or leave alcohol, and rarely ever drink anymore (except now my band is peer pressuring me.) I quit smoking cigs. As far as cannabis sativa goes, I'll probably never quit, just take breaks.

I have smoked all kinds of lovliness, found that weed rarely affects my ch, but cannot smoke resin during any rough times, was dignosed chronic, no pattern just perm get the odd week off, tried stopping the weed, no effect, found a cig helps towards the end of an attack, but only once past a certain stage of recovery( when the ha is just a dull pain, about to go anyway, calming effect i suppose) alcahol is a def no no , stick with the green ::)

I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I've never smoked anything in my entire life. :o At the Kiss/Aerosmith show this past Monday, there was so much pot being smoked, that I started to feel ill - not even a contact high, just really sick. Both my parents smoked as I was a kid - my mom still smokes and my dad quit 14 years ago. My mom also smoked when she was pregnant with me... maybe that's it... ???
