Title: 2nd date with Vera left me exhausted ... Post by BruceD on Aug 5th, 2003, 2:06pm Made you look, huh. ;D Well, I went to my doc yesterday and she agreed that I should give verapamil a try before this fall's cycle. I'm still having my wierd "out-of-cycle" cycle in which I'm still getting 2 or 3 HAs/week. After last Fall's hellish cycle I do NOT want to repeat things this year so I thought I'd give verapamil a shot. Thankfully, my doc said to start easy and work things up slowly on the dosage. Currently I'm only on 80mg/day (half a tab morning & night) and have only had 2 doses thus far. Man ... I'm sure glad I'm not on any higher right now. I'm reasonably fit and have BP of 118/58 and a resting heart rate around 60 or 62. This morning at work I kept feeling sluggish and checked my resting rate ... 52. Man, if I were on some of you guys doses I think I'd be out like a light! Guess my body just needs a little time to adjust to the effects of the Ca-channel blocker. I am hopefull that I'll be PF this Fall and "Vera" won't leave me so tired. ;) Take care BruceD |

Title: Re: 2nd date with Vera left me exhausted ... Post by ozzman on Aug 5th, 2003, 2:28pm Bruce, I' m doing exactly the same thing. As a matter of fact I started over a month ago and whenever I got hit with the 80mg dose, I upped the dose by one. I feel my next cycle nearing, so the doc put me on 3 a day. I might be able to abort it altogether at this rate. But I tell you what, with a 9 month old that refuses to sleep through the night plus Vera, I'm exhausted!! It takes a while for your body to get used to it. Good luck. Ozzy |

Title: Re: 2nd date with Vera left me exhausted ... Post by Karla on Aug 6th, 2003, 3:49am I found vera to make me light headed, dizzy, short of breath. I took it real slow increamenting. Was misserable the whole time though. Then when I got to a higher dose I found myself with an irregualar heart beat. No fun. I had to quit taking it. Not to mention that constipation is a real problem for most people. I will pray for you on this fun medicine. |

Title: Update on vera Post by BruceD on Aug 7th, 2003, 7:11am Well, I thought I should give a update on my ongoing relationship with "vera". I'm now entering my 3rd day and still have that fatigue feeling, although not quite as bad. So far, and I'm trying not be too optimistic, I haven't had any HA's or even any shadows. Like I said, I've been having daily shadows and a hit every-other (or every 2nd) day or so. Since Monday, I've not had any of these and actually feel "clean". I don't know how to describe it other than "clean" since I don't have that weighty feeling that shadows bring on. I know it's probably too early to celebrate, but at least I'm smiling. :) Take care BruceD |

Title: s'just me I guess Post by Georgia on Aug 8th, 2003, 7:49am I've always been lazy...As I ramped to my 720/day I can truthfully say I have never felt more "sluggish" than normal in my now 2+ years dating Vera. Maybe the 2-3 pots of coffee a day is responsible for that and my never having to fight constipation also. The thought of taking any medication everyday always skeeved me. Butt the thought of being Cluster free talked me into it. I did a lot of reading here before settling on Vera as the least "side effecty" preventative. I'm glad I did. In the midst of a viscious cycle I became gradually PF and stayed that way for 2+ years. I feel extenuating circumstances brought me "hell month" recently. I am once again PF and am continuing my daily love affair with Vera for good measure. Wage Peace den |
