Title: Ok I'm a little tipsy but.... Post by Jayne on Jul 25th, 2003, 10:56pm I was out tonight and decided to ignore the beast and have a drink. two glasses of wine later I got hit. I was sitting amongst a group of people some I didn't know. They saw me get up...fumble in my bag and run off fast. I came back to the table a much happier person. A lady said to me the usual " oh migraines are awful, blah blah blah...." I put her straight very gently and explained my predicament. She almost jumped on me and told me she had been misdiagnosed with clusters last year. I asked her how she "behaved during a headache" and it was not clusters. Now here's where I am a tipsy moron. I forgot to write down what she actually had, (she told me they were rare) it was VMA or VUM or VAM...I didn't have a bloody pen at the time. But she said she had tingling all down her arm when she got them, and that reminded me of a recent post that someone had that sensation. Any road up..she had an op where they fixed her and she is now pain free. Oh bugger it, I ought to go to bed,,,I am useless...I get some info and I can't retain it. Yeah Jayne for Ouch president.!!!!!!! Hic. It's the first time I have had a drink in three months and I make a total tit of myself here on the board. Hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm???? Am wondering if an eight ball might help my memory. Nighty night. *sniff sniff* I loved yoos all very mush. |

I give myself PWI's when I post when drinkin (Posting While Intoxicated)......Never heard of what that person has but do remember a post about those symptoms...but..I can't remember much more about it which is typical for me. She said she had an op where they went in through her belly button into her brain (can't beleive that is possible) and fixed her up. I just thought this might be inportant info if someone comes here to our site that we recognise this as the attacks are similar somewhat. She had tingling in her arms and facial perali...parale...peralis...her face went numb on that side. any road up Cheers Tom Over and out and sober. |

Post by Tom on Jul 26th, 2003, 9:11pm Hi Jayne, in my opinion BAM doesn't match with CH in a n y respect - and it doesn't do it at all with a facial p a r a l y s i s. Anyhow... And then, a surgical approach through the belly button to fix this syndrome seems more than absurd - was that lady more than tipsy (i.e. drunk) when she told you that ? As there are a lot of CHeads with concomitant migraines one warning should be mentioned concerning BAM (and all other types of migraine with aura): "The treatment of BAM is the same as with migraines with the exception of the vasoconstricting drugs... Vasoconstricting drugs are contraindicated in the use of BAM since BAM is caused by vasoconstriction. Taking vasoconstricting drugs could increase your risk of stroke. These types of drugs are Immitrex, Zomig, Amerge, Maxalt, Relpax, Cafergot, Ergotamine and its derivatives, DHE, Sansert, Migranal, Midrin.
