Title: confused Post by thehappygardener on Jul 21st, 2003, 8:17pm Thanks to all of you for the material i have found here. My dad is 70 and for the last year he has gone for more tests than i care to think about,he is seeing a neuro now who has been changing meds about once a month, some work a day or two and some don't work at all,o2 only brings short relief, less than 1/2 hour. finding this site has helped us understand whats happening even if the pain doesn't go away.I am so sad to hear you all suffer this way. dad doesn't use the pc but if anyone has any message to give him in support i will print it for him as i do all info he seeks.his name is john.he talks about suiside a lot.the ch's seem to get worse all the time,he is getting them non stop it seems the last week.I feel very helpless at this point but all i read here does help,as well as make me fell like we are just beginning down a long hard road of pain. |

Title: Re: confused Post by Charlie on Jul 21st, 2003, 8:53pm Sorry for this horror. There is hope as mine went away 12 years ago when I was 45. Our convention was very helpful because we met a research neurologist that spent hours talking to us after his presentation. He learned much from us too. He's a Mensch. There will be some posts soon about his talk. This young man and nurse Laurie, gave everyone something to hope for. We all feel the same way when getting hit. Keep reading and posting. It helps and there's always the chance you'll find something that really works. Here is an interesting page to copy for family and friends that our friend Simon has at the UK site. It's the best of its kind. It helps others to know the difference in headaches. http://www.ouch-uk.org/ch/note_colleagues.cfm Charlie |

Title: Re: confused Post by thehappygardener on Jul 21st, 2003, 9:28pm thank you charlie, I have witnessed what he calls a 10 and had to go away and cry, i think for me it would have been a 20.this is the first time he has ever had an episode, which seems odd from all i've read to have ch come at an elderly age,but i am very new to this, although 11 months seems like years watching him suffer.the first six months was just finding out what was wrong.I am sorry to sound like i am whinning but I guess i need to unload a bit at this point, thankfull to find someone who understands what is happening. |

Title: Re: confused Post by Tim_w on Jul 21st, 2003, 11:17pm Welcome Happygardener.... Some Doctors have no idea how to treat CH, or should say try to treat. I have had several Doc's before I found one that seems to know his stuff. Read all you can here, go with your Dad to the Doc's...ask questions!! You may be surprised....you may teach him something! My wife Robin found my latest Doc....I was giving up before that, didn't think I'd find anyone that knew what the hell they were talking about. We all need a supporter...she doesn't complain but it can't be easy for you guys either. Keep us posted. |
