Title: initial trigger Post by AKatsis on Jul 21st, 2003, 7:08pm Has anyone found that an emotional trauma, such as the death of a child, trigged their first CH? |

Title: Re: initial trigger Post by Charlie on Jul 21st, 2003, 7:51pm It beats me but with all deaths in my family, in a couple years, the attacks ended quickly and haven't been back. Looks like stress didn't hurt me at all but it's just as likely to be coincidental. Still, it makes me wonder. Charlie |

Title: Re: initial trigger Post by kim on Jul 21st, 2003, 7:58pm AKatsis, I'm sure I'm not theonly one to contribute the possibility that "SUDDEN CHANGE" (here the spectrum is HUGE)....has some relation to clusters. I don't know if it's true, but I can tell ya other clusterheads have pondered on it..... Heart felt well wishes. ******* :) |

Title: Re: initial trigger Post by Pushkin on Jul 21st, 2003, 9:10pm I have no idea what triggered my first cycle of CH. I do believe that stress was a factor in triggering some cycles, but almost always at the end of a very stressful period, when things have gotten better - then along comes a CH cycle - punishment for feeling better? I know this sounds strange, but CH are strange. Anyway, I honestly believe that reducing/avoiding stress helps reduce the frequency and intensity of cycles (for me). However, I also believe that stress is only a peripheral factor, and not the cause. |

Title: Re: initial trigger Post by don on Jul 21st, 2003, 9:20pm Mental and/or emotional trauma can trigger a whole range of responses. Dont see why CH couldn't be one of them. |

Title: Re: initial trigger Post by Pushkin on Jul 21st, 2003, 9:33pm "Dont see why CH couldn't be one of them. " I would agree, I should change my post to read that I don't believe stress was the cause of my initial cycle. It might well have been the cause of some of the subsequent cycles. My experiences with CH have been so strange I wouldn't rule anything out. For me at least, they seem to defy understanding - they have a way of getting around logic. |

Title: Re: initial trigger Post by Giovanni on Jul 21st, 2003, 9:39pm I know my first CH followed the worse, most stressful year of my life. I often wondered about this since my age exceeds the "medium age" for getting these things (late 40's). Might be a contributing factor? ??? |

Title: Re: initial trigger Post by ozzman on Jul 22nd, 2003, 6:46am Looon ago I posted my conclusions after much researching on the OUCH site, about the hypothalamus, stress hormones (cortisol), circadian rythms, blood pressure, etc. On how due to the malformation (extra growth, appendix, little mass of extra Jell-o) to the hypothalamus, when any or a combination of the functions regulated by it is In case Jonny is wondering what the F*** is wrong with Chronics? Well Jonny, I wonder the same thing... ;D ;D Ozzy |
