It's about family,

from Mast, who has had 8 hours of sleep in 4 days and didn't touch a drop of alcohol...gave a total of 4 imitrex injections plus ONE on herself (sympathy HIT hopefully) and got to be a supporter and experience the other side.
And wouldn't trade it for the world.
Love you supporters.

That top picture looked like my high school years. Throw in a shitload of straws, passed out junkies and a long gone brother and I might start waxing nostalgic here.
And you all said it wasn't all about partying.

I know Ted... it does take some people back I'm sure...

This has been the most intense experience for so many here.  I don't know in past conventions if so many were getting hit at the same time but we all sufferers and supporters alike have been really torn by having to witness what has been happening here.  Sure we are together in all of this and that is what makes it so special. It was great to meet everyone here, but hard to then watch several of them suffer the same terror that I have seen  Dave experience... The bond between all of these sufferers is incredible. As a supporter I find that the sufferers can now feel the pain of being a "witness".
Whatever fun or partying that has been done here is a deserved relaxation for a job well done.  The speakers were awesome and maybe finally OUCH  has met an MD that will finally help us...
an unbelievable experience... love to you all and pain free cozy nights to you all Ree

You've got mail. In the meantime, exit 2? You and/or Dave have my number/last name to look it up? Stop on by and take a tour of the summer in the Berkshires. Dave, look up Cranwell's golfing. They decided to go from a crap green to world class. Best restaurants in MA too. My treat. Order chicken. Seriously. Stop on by and everything will be my treat.

A microcosom of the world of Cluster Headaches.

A small group that for 2 days represented what thousands of sufferers/supporters endure on a daily basis, all their life. These are the ones that are treated properly, how many others?

The intensity and immensity of it blows ME  away and I wasn't even there.

I hope the speakers were aware of what was happening ? Is it all neccesary, I doubt it.

Let's be nice here kids.

Imitrex parties........interesting idea but hardly what goes on. We drink beer, listen to speakers, drink beer, eat stuff, drink beer, exchange ideas, drink beer, play golf, drink beer, take tours, drink beer, and post hundreds of pictures. Out of beer.

Be prepared for some  real noise Owie.

Your so right Mast. I also got to be a supporter this weekend instead of a victim.  It is so hard to find the words of how I felt having witnessing this.
I learned alot of new info that will help me when my time comes.
I felt a very strong bond with all. It was just an awesome experience.

Don, still seriously upset you could not attend :(

Mind blowing is an understatement.  Our speakers were not only aware but witness.

A page out of that chapter:
Our sweet Roxy had just been hit hard, witnessed for the 2nd time by our fabulous speaker Dr. Bigal.  DJ, myself, Roxy and our newest bestest friend Marcelo (he was in friend mode then, not speaker/doc mode) sat there after she had found relief from her pain laughing and going back to life as usual.  We all talked about how great a time we were having, and our newest friend sat back and stated simply "I'm depressed!"  To us we just pick up and carry on with life.  To him, he had to sit and witness what is known as the worst pain to man and as a Dr and a researcher searching for a remedy know that he could do nothing for her.

They know.  Probably in a way they could never have known before, and we have some wonderful friends and allies now :)

Will be preparing much much info as quickly as possibly for the board and the members.  Soooooooo much to do, so much to get out and somehow, someway, I HAVE to impress on each person not in attendance the extreme excitement of everything NEW we learned about CH.  Never believed that new to that extent was possible....

Doc was great. A fun youngster, who besides having a bedside manner better than Marcus Welby, told us about Brazilian fresh pub beer.

Dr. Bigal makes a pretty good supporter.  He had seen a cluster attack before, but it had been many years.   This is one thing I never thought would ever happen.....having a neuro sit with me through two hits, and then tell me he had never felt so helpless.  And he couldn't figure out why we were all laughing.....LOL.

I tried to make this event all about the partyin'.  Having never witnessed an attack from the other side, when you see your newest bestest friend getting slammed you sober up real quick.  The word Supporters is now redifined and greatly appreciated and profoundly respected.
CAT  you are an unf'nbelievable woman. Thank U
Mast thanx for sharing your pain(how u doin?)
This was not a party, It was a once in a lifetime experience(hopefully repeated each and every year)
DJ is da man
I am starting to save now so I can be at the next family reunion.  PF days to all.

Enough of this emotional crap......It's time for a beeerrr(or however the mass contigent says it)

PS I think I heard Ree say the F-word 2 times(can anyone verify that)

Thank u all

You will never know the feeling of this unless you are there. The watching and KNOWING the pain they feel and knowing that there is nothing you can do, I watched Tim and Linda and Roxey. My insides just twisted up. A tear let me down with Roxy. I worried so much about Cat when I went to get her a coke and came back she was gone. I knew there was nothing I could do but pray.

The partying well the parting was a way to enjoy. We can hurt and still have a great time afterwards. I got hit three times. It was nice to find someone joking when I returned, it was nice to be able to have something to laugh about when the pain was gone.

It was much more than a party it was so many things.

Elaine,
I never thought of it that way.  What it is to truely know what it feels like and have to watch another go through it.

I don't know if I would know how to act.  Would I get out of the way?  I don't know.

stevegeebe....I know exactly what you mean ! I was there and knew what was goin on most times...hell I been around a clusterhead long enuff to know the signs.......almost as if it is a sixth sense sumtimes. But I didn't really witness much of the attacks inside....I just kept to my space respectably and gaurded the palace door and the dance began inside. Pam that was actually a bit scared of it all..and I admit it

Steve, it's instinctive, I don't know what else to say.

Pam, I was terrified of it!  And I experience it.  From the other side of the fence it is utterly horrifying to watch :(

I didn't know how to act either.  I know when I get hit I don't want anyone near me or asking questions or anything. Just want to be left alone. So basically I just sat there feeling helpless, depressed, and angry that my friends were getting hit.  I just didn't know what else to do.

KOP and I said many times to one another that we wish we could take a hit from some of the people who the beast wouldn't leave alone. Sounds crazy, but we just wanted to give them some pain free time. Of course, the beast didn't listen and kept hitting the same people, which just pissed us off even more.

My heart broke every time someone got hit. It hurts now just to think back on it.  Before the convention I never saw anyone get hit. I had no idea what I looked like to other people or what others thought when they saw me get hit. It is f***ing scary. And when it is someone you care about, it is even worse. So, let me just say to all the supporters out there who take care of one of us Clusterheads - THANK YOU! You are strong people.

I miss you all and hope you are having having pain free days.

Bryan

I know how you feel Bryan. The very first person I saw taking a hit was Tracey. I didnt know what to do and I was afraid I was invading her space. I knew she was in good hands because the Dr. was right there by her side just staring as I was. I became so overwhelmed that I had to walk out, go around the other side of the porch, sat on the floor and just cried.
On the other hand though, I was with Linda when she got hit and I was a little stronger then and was so glad I was able to help her out the best I could.
Totally mind blowing to say the least.....

The most bazaar thing is bein a supporter I can usually tell or sense sumthin is wrong (it's that 6th sense of mine)......but we all met lookin fresh as a daisey (even tho with sum of us we were a lill road weary) then I'd notice people "missing".......sumtimes they were just in the back rooms talkin or on the laptops....but sumtimes they were in pain. I'd see shadows of people in the dark around the cabin tryin to walk off or thru a hit. I'd see people that were so happy and fresh looking one minute then see them an hour later with wet hair and makeup washed off from bein hit and goin thru hell. We seen Cat come walkin to the cabin the one nite late and go in with wet hair and thought she snuck off into the hot tub and didn't tell us...but she had stuck her head in the cold water of the St Lawrence river to ward off a hit. We never knew that till I read the post about it. I'd see people laughing and jokeing one minute and run off into the back room then come back so 'quiet'....then they'd perk back up and be laughin with the rest of us again soon enuff. Sum would be back an forth all nite. But at least no one complained about us noisey clusterheads and clusterbuds over the weekend in cabins and rooms around us cuz we were a noisey happy bunch for the most part all the time.  :)  And remember.....that cop said he had room in backa his car when we got there...blahhh-ha-ha-ha.....woulda loved a ride in his cruiser and take the tour........but not be handcuffed .  ;D   Pam that was quite the observer at the convention  ;) ;) ;)  (I'm happy to say I never had to bang my head all weekend long......I am so happy bout that !!!)
