At one time I thought they were so I had myself tested for allergies. Seemed like they did a hundred pin pricks and no major reactions to anything. So in my case they are not related.

I was tested for allergies as a kid (when I was about 8 yrs old) and just had the common dust, mold, pollen, trees, grass.  I'd say within the past three years, I've started to get worse, so this past spring, I went back to get tested again (I'm 25 now).  They did 11 rows of 12 different things.  Half way though the waiting period, they stopped the test because I had serious reactions to everything they tested me for :o

Hi Bridget.  After having allergy tests, it was determined that I was quite allergic to tree pollen and slightly allergic to ragweed.  So I started a program of allergy injections for a couple years (?).  I think it slightly helped my allergy situation.  It did absolutely nothing for my CH situation.  In fact, my cycles got longer.  But I don't think it was any relation to allergies, especially since I was a winter clusterhead.  I think now (if I'm not chronic) that I may be a summer clusterhead.

I'm not allergic to anything. I have CLUSTERHEADACHES.

I have never seen anyone relate allergies to CLUSTERHEADACHES in my 4 years here at CLUSTERHEADACHES.com.

You mention migraines....do you have CLUSTERHEADACHES also?

People with CLUSTERHEADACHES can become depressed. It can have a destructive impact on our quality of life...thus causing depression. We have control only over our attitude.

Yup, Pretty well what Den Said. Most people who have had CH for a very long time have dealt with the allergy issue 1st hand. My first 15 years or so i was diagnosed as having Sinus probs(caused by severe allergies) and not CH.
I dont know if it is different, but i tend to get more anxiety than i get depressed. Anxious to get the BASTARD over with so i can live again!

I've experienced  some really bad allergies throughout my whole life. went to the hospital on several occasions during my childhood due to the severe effects of it. Every year or two it would change its effect on me. One year my lungs shrank almost completely shut. The following year my face and hands would swell up as if I were just stung by a bee. From about 20yrs old on, it settled into flu like
symptoms. But always between aug-oct. That is the same time of year my clusters come around. I'm no doctor, but I don't believe they're related. I don't know why I don't. It just does'nt make sense to me.
Now as far as depression is concerned, I'm feeling depressed right now because the headaches won't go away this time,I've been out of work for 4 1/2 weeks, right now I'm feeling pretty shitty about things. But hey, a cluster headache is a problem to be solved. Life is not.
 peace,
 Mark.

Hi Donna,
Welcome back. Funny you should ask this. I have been wondering if I was the only Clusterhead with allergies. I did remember reading something in OUCH about Histamine and serotonin. (http://www.clusterheadaches.org/library/histamines/histamine_and_serotonin.htm) I believe in keeping an open mind and asking questions..... searching for knowledge, is the only way to find a possible cure.
