Title: ulcers Post by clavers on Jul 16th, 2003, 7:51am Has anyone out there suffered duodenal ulcers. I understand that they might be associated with CH in some unknown way. I have recently been diagnosed with one. |

Title: Re: ulcers Post by BobG on Jul 16th, 2003, 8:23am In all the years that CH.com has been on the web I think this is the first time ulcers have ever been mentioned. Like Big_Dan hinted........might be the meds. |

Title: Re: ulcers Post by Bob P on Jul 16th, 2003, 9:07am Yep. And I can say it was definitley associated with CH. Because of the CH, I was eating 18 asprin a day and it gave me a duodenal ulcer! |

Title: Re: ulcers Post by RevDeFord on Jul 16th, 2003, 10:06am I was hospitalized for a peptic ulcer that perphorated(sp?) back in 1991. Was in the hospital for month and a half. They also found I had 3 duodenal ulcers at that time. |

Title: Re: ulcers Post by Mark C on Jul 16th, 2003, 11:29am Ulcers here too. One Prilosec (http://www.astrazeneca-us.com/pi/Prilosec.pdf) daily makes me normal. Was awful sick until proton pump inhibitors came along. Miracle drugs... I wish they would come up with something for CH that works as well. I too remember reading something relating CH and ulcers, I am looking for the info now and I will post it when found. PFDAN's Mark |

Title: Re: ulcers Post by fubar on Jul 16th, 2003, 11:37am Let's talk about how f-ing stupid doctors are for a sec... Last year I was admitted to the local ER with incredible pain in my upper stomach. I mean, this was like getting kicked in the balls.... So they do some tests, and a sonigram. The doctor tells me I have gall stones... yippie. Says I can be admitted for surgery right away. I said no thanks. It wasn't that I didn't believe her, but it seemed a bit quick to decide to go under the knife. So I go to my real doctor the next day. He says it looks like (from the reports) gall stones, schedules a surgery and I get admitted to Los Gatos hospital. I am just about to go in for surgery when the surgeon comes in and decides I don't have gall stones and he wants to do a biopsy on my esophogus... yippie. After that procedure, which was a circus because they f-ed up the anethsesia, they tell me I have an eroded esophogus and they put me on Protonix. Protonix is MAGIC. Cures any stomach ailment, I'm convinced. That stuff is worth every inflated overcharged price they charge for it. And yes, it was CH related... too much meds. -Fu |
