i've stopped drinking alcohol, taken no painkillers at all,am using o2 and imigran.was wondering what the general opinion was on smoking? tobacco and hashish or marajuana.

I quit smoking cigs in March of 2002 and my cycle began anyway 3 days ago.  I'm actually contemplating getting pregnant again (had a baby on June 23rd) to stop this cycle before it gets too long, LOL ;D

still smoke filter cigarettes but am wondering if joints are a "known"trigger?found since diagnosis that trying to change habits has reduced the frequency of my attacks,o2 is good at stopping  them before they get too bad,but i'd like to do what i can to cut them back as much as possible,
good luck trying melissa!! ;)

One thing I will say, is that cigarettes and marijuana tend to "speed up" a hit... ie. make it hit it's peak and therefore go away more quickly.  I tend to reach for a cig as soon as I feel like I'm going to actually get hit.  I believe also that marijuana can tend to trigger an attack similarly to alcohol, but the hits tend to be "compressed" like when I smoke a cig to speed it up.

Continuing to smoke MJ while being hit, though, does not seem to affect it one way or the other... doesn't make it worse or better.

i know what you mean about reaching for a fag!whenever i'm driving and i feel one coming i smoke and it does tend to bring it on.i suppose knowing its going to happen anyway its a question of getting it over and done with.although now when i drive i tend to pull over and use the o2

Oh boy Dave, did you let yourself in for some crap on that one! LMAO!!

A Fag in England is a cigarette....not the slang for homosexual that is commonly used here in the states.

Ok, I tried to head it off... but.... LOL!

Dave, haven't tried the O2 yet... am planning on it when I get my next cycle.

Well in the US prison system........Ah, never mind.

Logic tells me that inhaling any kind of smoke would comprimise your oxygen levels.  I cant smoke when I'm being attacked but light up immediately after.
