Title: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by Roxy on Jul 12th, 2003, 11:51am I've been out of town, and when I got home last night, I found my daughter is babysitting a friends Pug dog (Chopsticks) for a few weeks. Only, this is a hermaphrodite Pug..... :o, go figure!! I may be naive, but I had really never thought of a dog being a hermaphrodite, other than the fact that this dog humps everything.......this is what the little bugger looks like (excuse the foot). http://pic5.picturetrail.com/VOL65/1274019/2419807/29314601.jpg (from Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary) hermaphrodite noun [C] a plant, animal or person with both male and female sex organs |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by catlind on Jul 12th, 2003, 12:26pm We had a hermaphrodite cat. My mother named it Fagan. Our other cat, Yorick, had kittens, and 2 days later Fagan, who had two balls hanging there plain as day, had kittens. We think Fagan was both father and mother :o Cat |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by oringkid on Jul 12th, 2003, 4:50pm I didn't think there were any cases of hermaphodites (whether animal or human) where both sets of sexual organs actually worked! From what I understand, in many cases, neither set works correctly...or only one set works correctly and the other is immature. But, I must confess... I had never thought about dogs or cats being that way! Sherry |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by cootie on Jul 12th, 2003, 6:20pm Can that dog see what's comein and goin at the same time.....geeze. Dogs hump other things as a dominence ritual not nessisarily sexual. They'll hump other critters or kids in the house to let them know that they are at a certain level in the pecking order of the family. I know it sounds crazy but it's true......also female cats alot of times get mistaken for males cuz of there physical makeup in the rear.......there not 'balls' per say but almost look as if they are.....males are lower and females with have the 'ball look' higher up. Oh geeze......how the hell do you explain that in layperson terms......why am I trying......me sounds stupid now don't I.....like sum sorta critter porn deal. Animals will also hump others comeing into heat even if there the same sex...ya know...like cows do. Course there are perv pets. Pam that has pet peeves not pet porn ;D |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by MarkHW on Jul 13th, 2003, 8:51am 99% of the time hermaphrodite's only have one working set of organs. If they have both... the logistics are such that the can't actualy fuck themselves. Roxy... The big dog looks a lot like mine. Mine's 1/2 Dane 1/2 mastiff. He's almost 200 lbs now at 2 years old. He's a great dog... His name is Loki. Mark |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by don on Jul 13th, 2003, 10:32am Mark You gotta post a pic of that guy! 200 lb.? What are you feeding him? Other small animals and midgets? |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by Roxy on Jul 13th, 2003, 12:04pm Mark, send me a pic (or post it) of your dog. I'm still trying to collect pictures for a cluster pet page. Cleo is a full Mastiff, and she was weighing around 190, but I think the heat has brought her down to around 180. |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by juvy on Jul 14th, 2003, 6:26am Speaking of bad pet habits, Does anyone know how to teach a dog/wolf not to kill every animal that comes into it's territory? Wolf thinks that if the neighbors cats come into his fenced in yard, they're fair game. Roxy, pet page? where? |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by Roxy on Jul 14th, 2003, 1:25pm Sorry juvy, my dogs kill everything that they can....skunk, cat, snake, possum, armadillo, rabbit, rat, smaller dogs....doesn't matter, and you can't make them stop. >:( The pet page isn't anywhere yet....I'm still waiting to collect pictures from people. But, when I get enough pics.....it will go up. |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by Gofishgriff on Jul 14th, 2003, 4:11pm Roxy, I've got some cat pictures and a leopard gecko picture for your collection. BTW, nice foot. Trust me, I know. My wife gets her feet done regularly and I'm quite the expert when it comes to feet. And no, I will not elaborate on this... ;) |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by oringkid on Jul 14th, 2003, 4:35pm Roxy, love the pic of the pug on the mastiff... evidently not only is the little guy/girl horny... but them Marty Feldman eyes don't work too well either...got a little perspective problem LOL! Mark.... Loki? Isn't that a God of mischief? or something like that? My (probably shaky) info comes from the movie "Mask" with Jim Carrey and the mask of Loki... Juvy, if your dog is part wolf.... well don't know that you could train him/her not to kill unless you train from birth and even then... circumstances and/or instinct would probably reassert the tendency to "be like a wolf" But they are usually good dogs as long as you make sure that you or your hubby is shown to be the "alpha" male. Dogs that are part wolf also are usually very protective of children that they are raised around or who are introduced as part of the "pack" Wolf genes are good to have in a dog... but... always remember that they ARE WILD ANIMAL genes and primal instincts are closer to the surface than in more domesticated species. I once had an dog that was part Alaskan Malamute and part Wolf .... which made him like 2/3rds wolf. Good Dog, but sometimes instinct would get the best of him... after being around birds (budgies) that were allowed to fly freely in our house for 2 or 3 years with never a second glance... one flew very near our dog and .... he ate it.... I was horrified!! He also tried to climb up in my hubby's lap while he was sitting in a rocking chair when we allowed his pups to be around him for the first time! Funny as hell since this dog was about 4 1/2 feet long (excluding his tail) and about 3 feet tall! He also thought it would be a good thing to pee on the chair that my hubby was sitting in if we brought the puppies in. (He had NEVER done anything like that before...he just did not know how to take those puppies LOL) Eventually, he began to roam though and after searching the neighborhood and bringing him back many times, there came a time when we were unable to find him. I think one of the workers at a shop where we found him twice, must have taken him home. The reason we had him was because he evidently wandered away from someone else and was brought to the SPCA and noone ever claimed him. Sherry |

Title: Re: Hermaphrodite dog....just too weird! Post by juvy on Jul 15th, 2003, 2:06am Wolf is 7/8 timberwolf...rest Husky. So he's more Wolf than dog. He lives with my mom now as I moved to another country and I don't have the room for him. Holland doesn't allow wolves as pets either. He's a great companion because our previous Alpha female (a chowchow) made it well understood that he was the low man on the totem pole. He wasn't even allowed to eat until she gave him permission. She passed away in January, and my stepfather got a new Alpha female (rotweiler) She treats him worst than the first one did. She teaches him how to do things he shouldn't and he's usually the one who gets caught doing it. They're quite a pair. I'll post some pics later on my website. now a little homesick... ~Juvy |
