I have used imitrex as an abortive since it first came out. Injections were my only option till they came out with the pills. Then the Nasal sprays came out. I prefer the nasals because i am not into sticking myself with needles even though it is relatively harmless. I do not remember the actual cost breakdown of injections and pills but i do know my insurance company pays approx. $21.00 a nasal spray. THAT IS EXTREME! I understand why they dont want to pay. Pills on the other hand if i am not mistaken are about $6.00 a pill. Does that sound right?
I just was curious if the pills can be broken down into liquid form and injected. No, i dont need to do that. But just curious about it. Kind of like a junkie heats heroin and water till the heroin goes into a clear liquid form so he can inject it into his system.
Off on another subject here. But it would be nice if Glaxco would make Nasals where you could break the nasals into 2 or 3 doses. I have found with the pills that i can take 1/2 of a pill and it will stop the Ch.
And off on even another subject....LOL
God, i hope my Neuro is knowledgeable. There is nothing worse than feeling smarter than your Doctor about your condition. Confidence is HUGE!

The pills are about 12-16 dollars each and you can't break them down That's why the pill is 50mg the spray is 20mg and the injections are 6mg

We have had a positive discussion on this before.
Your answer is no to dissolving and injecting. In fact I even tried to take an imitrex pill like a quick tab one time by letting it dissolve under my tongue. What a waste of a good imitrex pill. It did noting. I do agree with you in dividing the pill in half. I have been doing that for years. Just have to make sure you take it very early or you may suffer needlessly.

I have taken the 100mg imitrex pills, didn't even know they came in 50 mg. But I have to be absolutely sure to take them early enough. I've waited 30 minutes for them to work and that's just too long a wait. Stuey

I have been quoted $260 for 6 imitrix nasal sprays. I also have been told that the imitrix ns in europe comes with 2 sprays attached and not the one spray we get in the U.S.

Patrick I wish you luck seriously with your neuro. I thought mine were done and over with and just finished one. Do they ever stop I am starting to wonder. I was scared I left my Imitrex at home but didn't. I gave myself half a shot then another one cause it took a longer time to work than ever. I cursed and carried on in that dark room. I hope you come out of that office with all you need. Wouldn't it be great if a qualification for neurologists would be they had to be CH sufferers. Good luck.

I am not here to entertain anyone Don, I am here to gather information. But you seem to want to impede me from that. Maybe i am not as smart as you Don, Maybe i am not as knowledgeable about CH as you Don. But if you dont want to share your knowledge with me, That is okay. Just dont use my posts to roll your eyes at me.
Now, if you want to continue this discussion in E-mail, i'll be glad to send you my E-mail address and you can rant and rave at me all you want, but truly....What is the sense in it?

I was saying that dissolving pills to self inject is stupid and not worth a discussion.
