Title: POSSIBLE PORTABLE ABORTIVE
Post by PINKY BABY on Jun 28th, 2003, 8:58am
:o
ALBUTERAL INHALER.  i was in my daugthers dr office, and we got some not so good news.  i got hit with in a few minutes (i was already in cycle).  i started having trouble breathing, and the dr. put the inhalr in my mouth and gave me two quick burst, and with in a few moments, my pain was gone.  was it a fluke, or a possible viable alternative to tcarrying  an o2 tank around.  the dr told me that because it opened the airways so quickly it forced large amounts of o2 into blood stream, and the effect was almost the same as pure o2.  has anyone elsa had this possibilty to explore, or have i just completely lost iit this time.

The main side effect, I believe is increase in heart rate and blood pressure, If this is caused by constricted vessels then yep, it would do it. If you have asthma then you might not get this effect. You have to becareful because CH is very responsive to the Placebo effect so any treatment may work  a few times.

pinky baby,
yes, the albuterol inhaler induces bronchodilation, and I think your doc was  right when he said it might have given you a burst of o2, but hmm, ten liters of it a minute rushing in? I dunno, sometimes trying something new works for me, kind of a shock to the system. but that said, if the albuterol didnt work for you a second time, dont ditch it, it might work the third or fourth time!!! Do you have asthma? you mentioned not being able to breathe. I have wondered about using o2 preventatively as opposed to at the time of onset.
But I'm so glad that this worked for you. SO GLAD. It gives me more hope, and more ideas.

This doesn't sound like the placebo effect to me. The doctor was trying to help her breathe again, the way I read this, and wasn't planting the idea it'll abort her cluster beforehand. It just happened. Hopefully they stumbled onto something good.

Great solution for someone who wont take injections.

Problem;

I have a really liberal and aggresive neurologist and I think even he would have problems Rxing the inhalor for CH. I'm not sure a neuro could justify it without some sort of respiratory diagnosis.

On the other hand, he Rxs verapimil and I have no problems with my blood pressure.

HMMMM?

Thanks Ted I completely miss read it, I guess I'll refrain from posting until I am no longer Brain dead.

Could lack of o2 from asthma   cause Ch or a Ch type pain?

Interesting....

Too bad I can't do bronchodialators.  Make me speed like a bitch.  I actually had to go to the doctor and get something to bring me down when I was young. LOL!
