Title: Hired A band for the convention? Post by DannyV on May 12th, 2007, 10:04am I just so happen to have an amazingly swinging, award winning, 8 piece "jump blues" band that is one of the best in the land. Winners of The Blues Foundations, in Memphis TN, International Blues Challenge. I would call in all my favors and try to get all the guys there if any one might be interested. We do a lot of festivals in the summer, with 4 horns, boogie-woogie piano, bass, drums, guitar. and organ. Oh, and A very handsome and charasmatic frontman. Seriously though, anybody wants a CD or live DVD e-mail me your address and I'll get you one. Or, go to YOUTUBE and search" Danny Vitale" Boston Blues Festival. Just a thought. This is a bop till you drop kind of band. P.S. I am not trying to get a job here. Just throwing it out there. |

Title: Re: Hired A band for the convention? Post by Redd on May 13th, 2007, 11:17pm Last year the band donated their time and talent. If you are willing to play free of charge as a donation to a great cause, I'm sure Rori would love to hear from you. |

Title: Re: Hired A band for the convention? Post by DannyV on May 16th, 2007, 9:25pm I would love to do it. The guys in the band on the other hand would consider it just another gig and require their fee. I'd cover it myself if I could. Being a musician has not made me wealthy by any means. Maybe next year with a little more planning on my part. |

Title: Re: Hired A band for the convention? Post by Brewcrew on May 16th, 2007, 10:06pm Tell 'em you want to start a new policy in the band: Every member owes every other member in the band one freebie per year, but it has to be for a good cause. You can all write it off as a charitable donation, and the sting of the taxman won't be so great. Plus, they each get to go to bed knowing they left the world a little better than they found it that day. Of course, if they've gotten too jaded, you're SOL - sorta outta luck. |

Title: Re: Hired A band for the convention? Post by DannyV on May 16th, 2007, 10:58pm Main problem is the travel and expenses. Not the free show. It's short notice too. Like I said, maybe next year with some planning on my part. |

We understand. Last year the convention was in my hometown, and that's where all my bandmates are domiciled as well. We had the date open, so the stars were aligned. They rarely line up like that. |
