Title: Red Bull and other energy drinks
Post by Dutchman on Oct 13th, 2005, 10:00am
Hey all

I did a search on red bull and with most i read i get the tought you think the cafiene is the only working substance. This however is not true, the substance that does the trick is Taurine and possibly inositol  (or at least is in dutch). You have pills for this but they are WAY to low. Two of these pills compares to one can of RB.

Perhaps you can find cheeper energy drinks instead of RB witch also have Taurine and inositol.

Just tought i would share this :)

Taurine can be found in other drinks as well...
SoBe Courage
Arizona Energy

some also contain Guarana which is CHemically similar to caffeine and may also provide minor relief

Actually, Taurine has been discussed and described as the probable ingredient giving the relief.  A  medical study was provided (by Floridian I think) that showed how the properties in taurine might help.  Do a search for Taurine in the links above.

That being said, caffiene is well described in this forum as providing relief from shadows and weaker attacks.

Thanks for the insight.  Always good to bring up a topic that hasn't been discussed for a while.

Thanks Peter I didn't know that.  Now I'm going to try some more RB's!

I think it was Nani that advised me first to take them, I thought it was just for the caffiene it contains [smiley=huh.gif]

Well just shows you I will never be too old to learn new tricks. ;;D

no shit, so this chemical seems to help provide relief for CHers?
What is it called in pill form?  Taurine?  is it OTC?
Is that something that will get you wired up like caffeine?
Thanks
BMonee

I think we have chewing gum with taurine here in Finland.

I am a firm believer and user of Red Bull as an abortive.

I think it is the combination of the ingredients. I bought a bottle of Taurine 500 mg each cap. Taken up to 4 with coffe. No cigar. Didn't work.

Inositol does regulate serotonin.  It has been shown effective for anxiety, panic disorder and other diseases that are helped by SSRIs.  But it works different than SSRIs.
