Title: Fish Oil
Post by playmesomeblues on Aug 12th, 2005, 12:18pm
Hi Everybody,
Yes, I am still on the pred., and it's so-so thus far.  But I see that a number of you report taking fish oil but I haven't seen a discussion about your results.  Can you tell me whether it's been of any benefit?  It sounds good on paper....

Take care all and may you all be pain free always.

David

Hi David,

I've never heardof Fish Oil for HA, but I do take it daily for depression and there is a significant amount of research on it's benefits for depression and mood disorders.

Be well,
lionsound

Mike took it along with other vits, such as vit C, fish oil, meletonian, vererian root, saw polmento, st. Johns Wart and cod liver oil daily twice a day with large intakes of white not purple buy white grape juice (something in it) this helped him through 3 years with out a cycle when he felt it comming on he would start and shortlly they would be gone only small shadows i will look back at my notes and get the specifics if anyone whats

There are plenty of theoretical reasons why it might help - reduces coagulation, improves balance of sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system, etc.  Unfortunately most people (like me) who take it don't take just one thing, and there is no controlled research on it.

Even conservative groups like the Consumer's Union reccommends daily fish oil for all middle aged people - for its role in cardiovascular disease.  No evidence that it has a dramatic effect on clusters, but worth considering and using as part of a general health program and maybe some preventive effects. (?)

I owe my bad teeth to cod-liver oil.    http://tinypic.com/aey544.gif

When I was a kid that fetid, malodorous, stinky, foul-smelling gook was laced with peppermint stench, to make it supposedly taste better.   For me that caused a life-long aversion against anything stinking of peppermint.  And since most toothpaste smells like that .....

Well after my initial post, I started taking fish oil capsules.  I wish I could tell you whether they're helping the ch's.   But also on pred and now starting melatonin, so I'm sorry to say I can't give you a results report.  But in my studies, I did read that because of the higher doses for ch, one should only buy pharmaceutical grade, ultra refined fish oil.  This supposedly removes pollutants like mercury.  Oil from small coldwater fish tends to be less contaminated than that from larger fish.  Yeah, who knew huh?  I found some at walgreens for $20, 60 gels--odorless & tasteless.

When I saw the title of this string I thought it was going to be about fixing a squeaky fish.

Dang, it could have been funny.  :'(
