Title: GON Blocks duration Post by muji on Jul 25th, 2005, 5:35am Hello all Can anyone tell me how long the Block worked for them? I have been quite impressed with the results so far but am a bit anxious incase it wears off before I leave my bout. Also does it wear off gradually or all at once- Thanks Muji |

Title: Re: GON Blocks duration Post by bnfreeman on Jul 25th, 2005, 11:27am I have only had it done once. It helped for a day, but then I woke up the next day and it was back to normal. My doc wanted to do it again and I said no, it wasn't that great for me. Hope things go well for you. BF |

Title: Re: GON Blocks duration Post by Cinder on Jul 25th, 2005, 1:05pm This regards Nerve Block- I have been getting them since 2003 with increasing results after two years, and yes sometimes the first one does not take and after a week I am back for a second. I am chronic, and the Nerve Block leaves me 6-8 weeks of almost PF. although shadowing is never far away. But that I can live with. But in that 6-8 week period there is a seldom Cluster or few. I do take other meds, which my Dr. at present is taking me off of cause he feels at this time are doing nothing. He feels that the Nerve Blocks at this point are the only relief along with O2. and Imitrex. Hope that I was some help |

Title: Re: GON Blocks duration Post by muji on Jul 26th, 2005, 4:10am Thanks guys! bnfreeman- I heard that if it works for a day and wears off, it was just the local anaesthetic working and not the steroid so to come back for a second go to try and get the better placement. This is my third week post GON block and although shadows have been present I have had no full attacks which has been brilliant. I can't take Imitrex at the moment as Im pregnant so I've only got O2 to rely on which has always been a bit hit and miss. Muji |
