Just went to my family doc for something unrelated to CH and the nurse asked if I was still taking Fioricet as needed...

Ummm...let me think...NO!!!!!! Took it for 14years before finally being diagnosed with CH but not anymore. Like a fool, I tell the nurse that the neuro gave me Maxalt MLT and it didn't work so great against the demon in my head.

Doc came in and at the end of the visit asked if I wanted to try something beyond the Maxalt...sure I say, thinking it saves a copay to the neuro....she asked if I had tried Zomig and then went out in the hall to her stash of samples and threw them in a bag.

I get home, open it up and see Relpax!?! [smiley=huh.gif] [smiley=huh.gif][smiley=huh.gif]

So I call and they check with the doc and come back to the phone saying yup that was what she meant to give....I look it up online and plain as day, the info says to take only for migraine headaches. Not to be used for other forms of headache pain (e.g. cluster headache) WTF?????

Anyone take this stuff? I realize it is a triptan just like so many other pills CHeads get but what is the deal? Thinking I should just quit being so damn cheap about the copay and call the neuro and get something else......

I would suggest trying it and if it works, keep some stashed, the more 'weapons' the better.

Then go get some Zomig!

Imitrex is the only triptan that is officially labeled for cluster. What you read regarding relpax simply means that the producer didn't conduct trials of it's effacy in clusters. It doesn't mean that it won't work. Most triptans work on clusters.

Replax tabs did absolutly nothing for my CH. I filled them each month and hubby used them for his Migrains.

Give them a try... But I would not hold my breath.

I take Relpax 20 mg (half if a 40 mg pill) before bed time and usually get through the night without a hit.

As Bob P said, "for meegraine only" does not exclude CH, it simply means do not take for tension headache or hangover.

Tried the relpax as well and it did squat for the CH. Was also on Neurontin at the same time, along with Lexapro and verapamil. I was downing so many pills in a day I thought I could hear maracas when I walked.

been taking relpax since 2003, aborts 70% of the attacks in 30-40 minutes. Imigran nasal works faster. It's not a real CH medicine, but then again:

what is ? ???

Don...I saw the same thing. Gotta love the beast and all of his "individual" attention he gives :-/

i used relpax two cycles ago i got the same thing a bunch of samples it worked for a vey short time for me then it was noneffective and ive heard that from many people , personally $21.00 per pill for relpax is freaking insane , now i spend $.97 on a bag of morning glory seeds and get real relief for alot longer.

Sad to say I've already been given the opportunity to test out this fantastic orange pill and won't be using it agaiin. Worst rebound I have ever had!!!!

One triptan you can mark off your list...

Imitrx injectable is the triptan of choice. If you can get the vials and break the doses down to halves or even thirds, tip to the left if you only can get the stat pens and refills<<< the "tripan hangover" is much less a bother.

to add: Zomig nasal is another one many swear by, though I've not had personal experience with it. It's supposed to, by what I've read, have a half life that helps act as a preventive for about a day as well. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong...

In the beginning I used it some. And sometimes it would help. Then it stopped working at all. The same with Maxalt, Axert and Frova for me. Good luck.

Relpax works for me like most Triptans. Many people report that it doesn't work because it takes so long to kick in.

It's actually a better preventative than an abortive for CH’s. Yes I said preventative, and yes it is being used as such along with Amerge. Ueli can get good results with a half tab, many people need a full one before bed.
